setting up, win 7

I set up, scanned for channels,  OK all the  pages listed on “getting started”. try live tv and get nothing.
Using windows 7-64bit. pvr version 3.1.1.
also, not using internet. can I program manually?

Version is probably 5.1.1 Uploads your logs following the getting help wiki instructions

Manual recordings are possible but NextPVR is better with EPG data.

It says version 3.1.1 on the first page of settings. Is that relevant?
Am I supposed to look for logs? I don’t find a log file.
I am not technically adept, sorry, so please dumb down answers

I don't know where you see 3.1.1 can you post a screen shot?

Did you use the 'Log Files' button on the Settings->About page to collect the log files? I can't imagine them being empty if you used this to collect the logs.

Did not use the github info ,but now that I look at it it is not helpful.
I uninstalled and reinstalled v 3.1.1. could not find a 6.1.1 download.
There is no log listing on the about page, just steps to get started, which I did.
Channels are listed but i cannot play live tv or recorded videos. Just a black screen.
I looked in the event viewer and found only info - 0 - listing for the time I opened NPVR.
In program files there is a folder for npvr with only one folder for VC-redist.
In program files (x 86) there are lots of files but no logs.

NextPVR v5 doesn't use the x86 folder. The "not helpful" link tell your were to find the log files.

There is no version 6.1.1 either, until you post a screen shot maybe we should all stand down trying to help.
