Hi All.

I'm new to NextPVR, just migrating from TVHeadend which I have used for years.
I have 2 x DVB-S2 tuners
Running on Server 2019
Based in the UK
Using latest version of NextPVR 5

When I scan for channels they are all in a random order and beginning at number 1, not 101, as they should (and do on TVHeadend). Does NextPVR, ignore the broadcast channel numbers?
Also TVHeadend extracted the guide with over a weeks programs from the DVB stream for over 90% of the channels, but NextPVR only seems to get the now and next for 50% of the channels and nothing for the rest.

Is this functionality missing from NextPVR, or am I missing something?

Thanks

Dave

Logs ... you are missing logs ... Smile ... Attach logs telling us the time that you did the scan for channels and the time that you did the EPG update so that we know where to look in the logs ... Thanks.

Hi Graham,

Sorry, it was more of a "Does NextPVR do this" type post. I have attached the logs. I can't remember the scan times, but I did a scan in the last couple of hours. I've spent the morning trying to set the channel numbers up and associate to the guide information from Scheduled Direct that i've jus tsigned up to the trial on.

Thanks

Dave

Have you though ...

The NextPVR forum will not accept attachments that are larger than 2MB. Please use cloud storage (for example, Dropbox or OneDrive) and post a link if the log zip file is larger than 2MB.

The forum does not show a message when it fails to attach. Please check that your logs have attached.

Thanks

NextPVR will use the channel numbers from the stream, for broadcasts following the DVB standard. There are some broadcasters that use proprietary data to carry this information instead of using the standard LCN descriptor.

Thanks Sub.

So, it should pickup the channel numbers, that's good to know. I know the stream if fine as it's the same tuners and dish that worked under TVHeadend, and I got the correct channels, but NextPVR just started numbering from 1. I suppose it could be the drivers as TVHeadend was on Linux and NextPVR is on Windows. Would love to get it working properly though.

I know the Freeview (DVB-T) in the UK picks up the channel numbers just fine. I think I remember that Freesat (DVB-S) in the UK uses a proprietary scheme, unique to the UK, to support different channel lineups for different regions etc.

I remember on TVHeadend after it scanned for channels I had to pick a bouquet for the correct region to get the correct channel line-up, I use Astra 28.2E (Sky), is it only Sky that uses this system? Rather Naively I thought it was standard.

The channel numbers listed for FreeSat are here ... https://www.freesat.co.uk/tv-guide

It might be that FreeSat is broadcasting with two channel numbers for each channel ... 1) A channel number that conforms to the DVB standard that NextPVR picks up during a scan ... 2) A channel number in a proprietary format that NextPVR does not find or use.

I think there have been a few requests for bouquet support in NextPVR but I don't think sub supports it yet.
