The choice to use the web app is yours, I would offer that most users don't use it is their principa client for Live TV or recordings. and use NextPVR.exe, Kodi, or other client choices. For searching and scheduling the web app is pretty slick.

Make sure you use the proper shortcut for NextPVR, it sounds like you still have the v4 one. It should be to "C:\Program Files\NextPVR\client\NextPVR.exe"

Had a recording which was supposed to start at 3pm. It is now 4:07 and still says pending. In the tray nextpvr status there is a blank box. Shows show in recordings but says failed, the recording service not started. I copied my config and db3 from V4 and it shows all my tuners and channels on the web. Also doesn't show the 3pm show in recordings. Back to v4.

Your logs would have told us what happened. Many of the problems I have seen come from people trying to have a hybrid system of V4 and V5 running in parallel which is not a good idea if you don't know exactly what you are doing.

After a few hours of work I think I finally got V5 installed.

I suspect you were tripping yourself up at times with v4.

I regularly install and setup NextPVR inside Windows Sandbox, ie a clean version of Windows each time I run it, and the install and setup is literally a few minutes - from empty machine to installed and working NextPVR v5.
