I've read every post about setting up the 500 MCE and still don't seem to get it (sorry, I've been one of the displaced ones from Hurricane Katrina). Do I need to set up 2 separate sources under capture or just 1 capture source with 2 different tuners?
It appears I can get at least 1 to record but not the other when set up as 2 separate sources. But, I get a recording conflict message. And,, I only tried this with the latest version using the Xmedia theme.
I know reboot has worked with a number of questions and appears his is working fine. I know it's something simple I'm missing.
By the way, Hauppauge is totally useless in answering any questions about 2 tuners.

The PVR500 effectively looks like two PVR150's in your machine. You need to setup two capture sources, one for device #1 the other for device #2.

I don't have a 500, but I believe you setup 2 totally seperate capture sources. In each one you pick the PVR500, but I think you pick #1 in one, and #2 in the other.

I did just that, capture #1 as 500 with fm tuner and #2 as must 500 but still get the conflict recording message. The first recording does work fine though.
I wish it could be set so you can choose which capture you want to use each time you set the recording. Maybe it'll be possible in a future version.

Thanks

Setup a test that shows this, then post the gbpvr.exe.log. Also post information about what the shows were you tried to record.

Having two 500's was a challenge to set up, mostly because I did them at different times, not all at once.
Firstly, I made sure that the drivers were installed for two tuners. Check device mangler, under Sound Video and Game controllers.
Next, I started with a fresh install of gbpvr.
For the first tuner, I selected PVR-500, then updated the EPG for it, and closed the config.
Restarted the computer, then added the second tuner as device #2, as PVR-500 with FM. Updated the EPG for it.
Download and install the Lame mp3 thingy.
Tested gbpvr, and all was well.
Then I simply repeated the process for the second card.

If that fails, try installing device #1 as the one with FM. This all depends on how the computer detected the hardware in the first place. If Windows detected the tuner with FM first (this can happen), then you'll need to reverse them in gbpvr.
There's NO way to tell which is which though, even in device mangler. I'm sure there's a place in the registry, but haven't looked.
You can never have enough tuners!

Thanks all for your info.
Reboot, I had already confirmed that I have 2 tuners in device mgr (sorry I didn't mention that earlier). Something I just realized is that I obviously have not been connected to the net on my GBPVR system. It appears, after working with Dell on the phone that my NIC is bad and they are sending a motherboard replacement. So, I'm not able to update the EPG.
I have tried manual settings to record and only the 1st one I select will record. If I set another instance, I get the confilict message.
I basically set them up as you said with a clean install of GB PVR (latest). I'll continue to play with it more but I am not sure if the fact that EPG can't be updated is hampering my fixing it and may have to wait until I get the new motherboard so I may not post back unitl then.
Thanks again.

Try reversing the order of the tuners.
Set device #1 as PVR-500 and device #2 as PVR-500 FM.

Instead of waiting on Dell, you could pick up a cheap NIC for about $10.

Unfortunately, mines on the motherboard and I have no more slots available. One of the bad things about a proprietary system. All in all, I've been happy with it and Dell.

I tried all the different set ups and nothing works. I'm still going to wait until I get the EPG working to be sure that's not the problem.
Thanks

Got my motherboard replaced and have downloaded the EPG for both tuners and now all I get is a black, snowy screen. Device MGR does show 2 tuners and I've tried changing device 1 and 2 to 500 w/FM and just FM and back and forth.
I don't believe the problem is with GBPVR since WINTV2000 does the same thing and I download the trial of Sage to test and the same thing happened. I removed the drivers, physically removed the card and replaced it and reinstalled from scratch and still have no luck. I tried the auto detect as well and it shows no errors. (enclosed).
I feel like a newbie and after using my PVR350 for almost a year, feel like taking the 500 out and going back. I've tried everything listed in the forum and even changed the tv cable just to be sure. I'm about to give up but feel it's a very minor thing I'm missing.
Hope someone can help me.
Thanks
Paul
