harmony remote users: help plz :)

hey, i just bought a harmony remote, the 659 and i have usb-uirt.

I am having trouble getting this to controll my gbpvr... it turns the tv on and off fine, same the vcr.

and i found the last free version of girder on the internet somewhere.

do i have to use girder to get the 659 to control the pvr? i saw on the harmony remote website that it has gbpvr in the list of pvr and i added it to my device list for the remote.

any help would be greatly appreciated!

It doesnt work reliably for some people but you could try going into the GB-PVR config app's "DVD & Remote" tab, and setting the remote type to 'USB-UIRT', then click the 'settings' button to learn each key of the remote.

I'm not longer supporting the USB-UIRT as an input device, but you could give it a shot. Unfortunately, if it doesnt work, I cant help you - sorry.

i got it to work somewhat. set up a hauppauge wintv pvr 150 as a device in the harmony web config. then went into gbpvr, set remote to usb-uirt and learned all the commands, except for channel up and down. it tells me it has learned it, but when in live tv and u press it, it doesnt do anything, then none of the other buttons due anything.

i tried learning it on another remote - just the channel up and down - the harmony still controlled everything else, but it does the same thing and none of the other buttons work on the harmony.. its wierd.

but everything else works fine and i can just use the guide for channels...

i think the prob is with gbpvr? something with the channel up and down settings in the usb-uirt code? i really have no idea lol just a guess. any idea sub? u prob dont care but worth a shot. lol

its cool. its only 2 buttons

eventually i will get a 150 so i can just use that ir reciever

oo wait - the channel up and down are controlled by the up and down nav buttons. hmm.. o well - still works, just cant touch the real channel up and down buttons

If you're running v0.94.13, does pressing the real ch+/- buttons result in an error being logged in the gbpvr.exe.log file?

yes it does, i see this in the log when i press the real ch+/- buttons:

but now they dont make the other buttons stop working. all the other buttons continue to work.

OK, I've found the cause of this problem and corrected it for the next release.
