I have the bits for a new computer and before putting it together I'd like to know how I can move the existing setup.
I have a number of series booked for recording as well as the existing stuff recorded and would like to keep them as is.

Is it roughly the same as migrating from v4 to v5 as here on the wiki: https://github.com/sub3/NextPVR/wiki/updates-upgrades
I assume I would also need to copy across the Recordings folder.

Thanks

Yes, largely the same steps.

Copy the recordings over to the new computer. Ideally to the same path as it was on the original machine (otherwise there will be some other manual steps you'll need to do), then copy over the npvr.db3 and config.xml

Also copy any custom scripts, etc.

Thanks.
If I am changing where the folder is, what are the manual steps that I need to do?

Then you'd typically need to copy across the recording-backup.xml, edit the paths in the xml to point to the new directory, then do an 'import recordings'.

My NextImport tool will copy recording database information from one system to another even if you move folders. It can migrate databases too, if you haven't been creating the external xml files.

I kept the same drive that NextPVR is installed on but I have a new big drive to (at some point) replace the existing one that the recordings go on.

If the new drive is mapped somewhere else, can I copy the Recordings folder across to it, change the path in the settings, and everything is cool with that? Or does everything remember where it was originally recorded and then fail when scheduled recordings try to happen to a drive that no longer exists?

If the latter, can I do anything to fix that?

New recordings will be stored to named values that are not hard coded to physical path so you can update those without changing the scheduled recordings.

If you move file you will need to import them in their new locations. You can do that via the recordings backup xml and I have a utility to help do this too. Make sure that you have NextPVR configured not to remove missing files in config.xml during the transition.

<AutoRemoveMissingRecordings>false</AutoRemoveMissingRecordings>
<CheckForRenamedRecordings>false</CheckForRenamedRecordings>
<NoRemoveWhenTreeMissing>true</NoRemoveWhenTreeMissing>

Hopefully I have this all clear:
I copy the files to the new location myself
I get a copy of NextImport (from here: https://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.ph...#pid549948 )
Set the 3 values manually in the config.xml file (/var/opt/nextpvr/config.xml for me)
Follow the instructions here, https://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.ph...#pid550409, substituting whatever the mount point of the new location is for drive:\folder

and that will import the moved locations into NextPVR

I then change the Recording directory in the web settings to be the new location specified above and any new recordings, even if in a series, will go into the new location.

Is all of that correct?

When you created the recordings did you enable the option to create the separate metadata files? If not NextImport (new version is called NextTool) will only have minimum metadata from the filename. NextTool has an option to copy the data from the old npvr.db3 assuming you either don't run your old install after moving files or you have those config.xml settings in the old setup.
