Nova-T still not working, filter problem?

I bought 2 x Nova-T (90002) OEM cards about a week ago. I have just moved house and have no internet at home so its quite difficult to remember what is happening so I can check for fixes whilst Im at work. Anyway Ive brought in my entire gbpvr directory to see if anyone can help me at all...

My nova-t cards wont work. Im tuning to Hannington (my nearest transmitter) and Im in southern England. The cards are recognised by WinTV but no channels found. Ive tried DVB drivers 13 and 21 Hauppauge and browsing their forums. My PVR150 works perfect first time everytime. Ive tried only a single card as I understand there were originally driver issues with dual cards. Ive tried bdaScanType = 2. My firewall is turned off as this also may cause problems. I turn to gbpvr as Ive been using it for a while now and because of the logging system built into it.

I havent got any filters? - Ive seen this error in the config.exe.log
When I check my muxes, I only find Intervideo.

The logs are showing that the scanning isn't locking on to any transponders. Stupid question - is your aerial substantial enough for DVB-T? Also, is it pointing directly at the Hannington transmitter? TV broadcasts are very directional (more so for DVB-T in my experience) - if there is more than one transmitter available to your area, the previous houseowner might have had some reason to use a different one to Hannington even though it is the nearest.

Assuming the aerial IS pointing directly at Hannington, the next step I would try is to adjust the freq. being used by GB-PVR. From the log, the first transponder in the list has details...

T:C50,706000,0,0,8

Find the INI file being used by GB-PVR - it'll be in the BDA folder under the GB-PVR install folder - Config.xml will list which one it is. Try editing the freq. from 706000 to 705834, save the ini and try a scan. If that doesn't work, try 706166. In the past I've found a 167KHz offset may work instead of 166KHz so try 705833 and 706167 as well. Try this with both scan type settings. If you can get a lock on the first transponder with one of these freqs. then it'll show your aerial is right and you're using the right transmitter.

Ignore the error in the log about failing to find a filter - I get that too. I suggest you set DVR-MS as the BDA Multiplexer in the Config app. - XP has native support for this.

A couple of other things - try just getting one Nova to work first and use the latest drivers - steer away from v1.3 which were buggy and didn't support dual Novas anyway.

I may find out tonight that Im not in the rite area for freeview, i always forget the basics! I did a check, and because its a new area the postcode isnt listed. I found a PDf document about DVB-T coverage research carried out in the UK and Basingstoke is listed as a bad spot becaue the analogue frequencies are to strong for and close to the digital ones. Im getting a cheap argos STB to test my area. Ive found some people near me that cant recieve mux 3 or mux C. If thats the case then I should at least get some of the other muxes through my PC. Anyway Ill give it ago.

I wasn't sure what area Hannington covered but if you say you are in the Basingstoke area, do an Advanced forum search for Darx-Starz. He is running 2x Nova-t and is in the Basingstoke area. There may be some posts from him with relevant info. Good luck.
