Remote login failed for new NextPVR install

Hi,
I installed NextPVR on a machine outside of my local network and cannot figure out how to log in.
First I got the error

Remote access is not enabled

.
Then I manually edited 

Code:

config.xml

 to 

Code:

<AllowRemoteAPI>true</AllowRemoteAPI>

.
Now I still get 

Code:

Remote login attempt with default credentials

.
I really appreciate that you want to make NextPVR more secure by default, but is there any way I can access it and can harden it myself?

PS: installed on Debian linux following the instructions here: https://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?tid=59390 and even https://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?tid=60875 recommends logging in with the default username/password

You will need to change the following from the defaults username (admin) password (password) and PIN (0000) I would seem silly to provide an option to allow those remotely. If you wanted I guess you could put a proxy in front NextPVR and then NextPVR would think it is running locally.

Thanks I picked it up again and figured it out. Unfortunately I'm not so good to calculate MD5 hashes for password and PIN. But luckily just changing the username allowed me to log in.

Would be much more user friendly to set this on a first log in though - or have a CLI command to set username/password directly.

It isn't that big a deal to have a default and then change it via the web app. The biggest problem is user forgetting the password or typing it wrong twice so know point in starting that way.

I edited the config.xml file on the server using a text editor on the command line.

However, I since dropped NextPVR as it seems to not fit my needs.

I appreciate Martin's help, nobody is forcing him to. But in the end it was less helpful as I was hoping for an easier way to edit the config after ssh'ing into my server. At this point I'm local, I was not trying to change the password remotely

Sorry I was less helpful to you, this same user figured it out in another thread were I gave him basically the same information.

I do agree with your basic thoughts though, I don't like NextPVR forcing a username and password, and I would like to be able to choose my own (or none at all) on the initial configuration.
