Hi

I wonder if anybody can explain the following

I have been using GBpvr for a few months now without problems
with a pvr350, a telewest cable box and a mvp unit

but all of sudden all my scheduled recordings failed to record anything

the directory would be created and the tray icon would go green to show the recording service was active, but no output mpg file was ever created. If you looked during the recording the directory was empty then as well.

At first I assumed that I wasn't getting a signal from my cable box, but I could watch Live Tv without problem including pausing it !!

after trying various options of rebooting, re-installing etc etc nothing seemed to solve problem

as a last resort I tried the hauppauge wintv application which recorded perfectly.

and most strange of all after using wintv gb-pvr is recording happily again

can anybody suggest what the problem might have been

I find that strange considering a live tv recording or any other recording are exactly the same. The only difference is it also starts playback for live tv.

Is the path to your recordings directory correct?

Anyway, you could reproduce the error then email your logs to me at support@devnz.com

I absolutely agree thats what I couldn't understand about it. Why could I watch & pause live tv, but not have a scheduled recording write to disk as I said it created the folder but they were always empty.

Since I ran the hauppauge software I can not get it to fail thankfully so I probably cant reproduce the failure

If there is still some old ones I'll send them

I wouldn't spend a lot of time looking for the bug as its gone as mysteriously as it arrived

Sub,

Its doing it again I have emailed two sets of logs to you

manual recordings work fine

live tv works fine

but scheduled recordings seem to do everything but create the output mpeg file. Its most peculiar

I have worked out the problem.

I am in the UK using XmlTv radiotimes by Alan Birtles for my epg feed.

this has an option to add star ratings to film titles

for example <title>Film:Cop Land ****</title> would be a typical entry in the data.xml file

but it would appear that gbpvr is getting confused when it creates a folder to store the mpg file in it creates a folder with the name of the film in this case "Cop Land"

but when it starts the recording service to write the file according to the logs it will create a file similar to the following

Q:\Videos\FilmCop Land \FilmCop Land _20041121_17152000.mpg

note the spaces in the file name

hope this helps some of you
