My problem is almost the same as the unresolved tid=62031 except I am using Xubuntu 22.04 LTS, not Ubuntu 20.04.  On my "normal" install there were 6 missing  dependencies for "nextpvr-helper.deb", all of which I resolved except: "depends on libssl1.0.0 | libssl1.1 (>= 1.1)".

I installed libssl3 which is >= libssl1.1  from my default Ubuntu 22.04 repository, but it was ignored as shown below in my Terminal Log:

dick@NPVR:~/Downloads$ sudo dpkg -i nextpvr-helper.deb

dpkg: dependency problems prevent configuration of nextpvr-helper:
nextpvr-helper depends on libssl1.0.0 | libssl1.1 (>= 1.1); however:
  Package libssl1.0.0 is not installed.
  Package libssl1.1 is not installed.

The tid=62031 last post suspected NPVR.zip, so I have its checksum to verify:
dick@NPVR:~/Downloads$ sudo sha256sum /tmp/NPVR.zip

I also tried these replacement install attempts that failed with:
E: Package 'libssl1.0.0' has no installation candidate
E: Package 'libssl1.1' has no installation candidate
E: Unable to locate package perl-openlibssl-defaults

It's a MS dotnet issues as the they choose not to support 22.04 There is an explanation on what you might want to do on this draft page https://github.com/emveepee/Testing/wiki/nextpvr-helper for the wiki.

I still can't connect to http://127.0.0.1:8866/, but it looks like it is not the DotNet / libssl1.1 problem any more.  I made sure there were no dependency problems before installing "nextpvr-helper", but may have done that incorrectly.  My Terminal Log is attached for both.

FYI, any attachments need to be zipped.

If you didn't follow the steps on that test wiki to use the deb installer I have no way to support you and I suggest you wait a couple of weeks for v6.

Sorry, the step in the test wiki that I missed: "Upgrade to a newer version of the NextPVR application: sudo dpkg -i nextpvr-helper.deb",  is included at the end of this attached zipped Terminal Log.

The results of the first time install are not showing though

sudo apt install ./nextpvr-helper.deb --install-recommends

I did NOT realize that my first UNZIPPED Terminal Log was not sent, so in my follow-up ZIPPED file I did not include the "first time install" because it not work and thought you had it.

For the attached Terminal Log I started over and included all the commands and results whether or not they failed.  I greatly appreciate your expertise and help in looking thru these logs, thanks.

There might be a bug in apt with that error. Does this solution help? https://askubuntu.com/questions/954862/c...ion-denied

Not you don't need to run dpkg after the first install that is only for updates.

I applied the apt bug-fix and ran both the dpkg and apt install with different results, see attached Terminal Log for all 3.

I honestly don't know if it works with the current errors and login problem.  The URL I reached is http://127.0.0.1:8866/login.html?salt=08...45b0910dfe.  It is a black screen with red text that says "login failed".  I can't register / re-register, or login.  A forum Search for "password", "changing username", etc. has only related to Windows - not applicable, non-help.  Can anyone tell me how I can  register with a new Username and Password, or recover my most recent Username if a new password is the only option?

Months ago with Debian 11, I had NPVR v5 running, but gave-up because my tuner card in the same computer that worked under Windows, no longer works with Linux along with some other functions.  Recently I found Hauppauge's PPA's are available for Ubuntu and am now trying NPVR again with the less stable Xubuntu 22.04 LTS,  Anyway, I think the current Login is looking for my previous, now lost, Username and Password that was last used with Debian.

Another troublesome, related issue is that my Internet connection drops out as frequently as once per minute depending on how it is used   One Google search say the problem is my current 5.15 kernel that is reported to be fixed by changing to the 5.17 kernel.  This disconnect problem throws the same network error as the current DotNet problem when attempting to connect to a URL.

Maybe off topic, but I would like any experienced opinions about my future plan of purchasing a WinTV-DualHD tuner to get my NPVR actually recording OTA channels.   Given the OS, compatibility issues, common problems, and the Terminal Logs, is my choice a good one.
