All ATSC users should pick us-ATSC-center-frequencies-8VSB-062009 now and even that scans too many channels. Who know when the Calgary list was added or if it is valid now.
Note NextPVR displays frequencies not channels numbers when scanning which might confuse you to think they are QAM. Martin

This message is my reply to postings #49 and #50.
I have attached my logs for running "dmesg" and "tail -f /var/log/syslog" commands after plugging my Hauppauge WinTV-DualHD tuner. Both logs indicate that Ubuntu 22.04 correctly recognizes and connects to the tuner device. The problem is that NextPVR does not seem to find or control the tuner to make it scan for OTA ATSC channels. The NextPVR logs are attached too. Incidentally, I double-checked that chmod privileges for /home/dick/ is changed from 750 to 755 an suggested by Martin. Also the kernel 5.15 I am running has the PPA installed that supports the tuner I am using: $ uname -a Linux NPVR 5.15.0-362206031516-generic #0+mediatree+hauppauge-Ubuntu SMP Mon Jun 6 18:58:15 UTC 2022 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux $ I'm not sure what to look for in the NextPVR logs, but I would think the Ubuntu syslog should show something to indicate NextPVR is controlling the WinTV-DualHD tuner, and show the channels it has found. If there is anything else I can try to help troubleshoot, please let me know.

You may have screwed up installing the mediatree unnecessarily but I only saw one scan not as Calgary and that didn't finish when you posted I can't make any statement on whether things are working or not.
The security suggestion for 755 was strictly about keeping your recording in /home/dick and has nothing to do with ATSC scanning. If you feel there is a an issue with NextPVR you can see if Ubuntu finds the channels on it is own by stopping NextPVR and running dvbv5-scan /usr/share/dvb/atsc/us-ATSC-center-frequencies-8VSB-062009 Martin

I think "dvbv5-scan /usr/share/dvb/atsc/us-ATSC-center-frequencies-8VSB-062009" is working from a Terminal , but there are errors.
Terminal Log attached. I will follow with some Screenshots and Logs from problem in NextPVR web program.

I am not interested in the scan, terminal logs or NextPVR screen shots. Did this find any channels in the dvb_channel.conf file it created?

I used the "locate dvb_channel.conf " command after running "updatedb", and that file does not exist on my hard drive.
I won't post the message I prepared with screenshots and their descriptions. I will save it for now because I think it offers some improvements on the GUI / web pages used in NextPVR web program that will help others. One of things that one of the Screenshots shows is: EPG Update complete.[0 inserted, 0 updated, 0 inserted]

It doesn't look like dvbv5_scan found any channels, so something like your signal (or possibly the device) isn't currently in usable state. This would need to be resolved before NextPVR is able to to find any channels.

Remember we are ignoring NextPVR at this stage trying to see if your scan is working This would have been the file from the dvbv5-scan but since it is not finding any signal the file is not being created.
