Whoops
"sudo chmod 777 nextpvr-helper.deb "
Completed the install before reading that.
nextpvr-helper.deb shows in red - which I think means its now an archive file.
and I did get the message:
"Download is performed unsandboxed as root, as file '/home/3/nextpvr-helper.deb' couldn't be accessed by user '_apt'. - pkgAcquire::Run (13: Permission denied)"
I believe this is only a warning.
BUT please let me know IF this is likely to come back and bite me further down the road.

All seems to be up and running - at least from the p-o-v that I can open the web-browser. I have not gone any further. My next step is to set up a Hauppauge DVB-S receiver. (NOVA S2)
Can I ask if you know of good resources - either on this forum or elsewhere I can refer to that covers this.

Many thanks again for your help

Steve
PS apologies for the .odt. I thought they were fairly universal

It is only warning and I just happened to notice it yesterday so I wouldn't worry.

Sorry I can't help with the tuner, sometimes with Hauppauge older kernels are better. If you can find all the firmware you need sometime using LibreElec as the OS would be better. You might even be able to use your RPi as a server and a client, with Ubuntu that won't be possible with generic Linux.

I am sure odt files are universal, I usually don't open unknown Word or LibreOffice files from users, but I was curious (and still am) trying to figure out what was wrong on your install. Saving to .txt is more universal and safer.
