Everything was going OK I thought.  Followed instructions on website, setup Zap2it account, re-started, update EPG goes OK while acquiring, then when it switches to processing, CPU goes 100%, no hard drive activity, no repsonse for maybe 15 minutes.  Any help appreciated.

The first time its going to take a lot longer than 15 minutes. One hour or more. It takes me around an hour on a 2.4Ghz machine. After the first time it then seems to be much faster (a few minutes).

What I would like to see is if you have two or more capture cards that have the same EPG source settings that it somehow just copies from one to the other (or shares the EPG data).

The next problem that I have is the first time it seems to crash the config program every once in a while. With the cards being setup I am sure it will crash at least once.

I did try once to use xmltv to get the channels setup and then switched to zap2it. That was much faster since I could pull down just 1 day and then let zap2it pull down everything.

Is there and disadvantage to just using xmltv?

OK, Thanks.
Does it not show ANY channels in the window list of channels until the entire process is complete?

No. It downloads the guide information, then processes it, then saves it. Its not until the data has been saved that they show up in the list. The data that is download is not in channel order, but all over the place, so whole thing needs to be downloaded before it can be processed.

Its only the zap2it plugin that behaves this way. XMLTV updates the data nearly instantly. Bleb takes quite a while, but does it channel at a time and gives you progress updates as it goes.

This first EPG update (Zap2it Dishnetwork) has been going on for over 2.5 hours! Is this normal?

How many channels do you have enabled, and how days do you have it setup to download? These to factors will dictate how long it'll take.

If you've got hundreds of channels, it might be worth logging in to http://labs.zap2it.com and modifying your channel lineup to only include channels you know you're going actually watch.

Subsequent updates will be quicker since it only needs to grab one days worth of listings.

Maybe zap2it is down, it happened a couple of times. How many days of listings did you input?

I come from country where our pay tv operators have about 60 channels. There is about 5 - 7 over to air channel broadcast depending on where you live... I didnt really design GB-PVR for the 800 or so channels you get from Dishnetwork. It works, but it's just a bit slow pulling them all in - particularly the first time.
