I am having a problem setting up a client. My GBPVR server works great. It is installed on Win XP as is the client. I disabled the firewall on the server and shared the gbpvr folder. I can access this folder on the client. The client is configured to be a client in the config.exe. I have tried both streaming and file sharing modes. I am able to show status on the client properly. I am also able to see the menu on the client if it is not configured to be a client. The logs indicate this:

Code:
2010-01-13 00:20:39.734    VERBOSE    [1]    Unexpected error locating DBProviderFactory: System.IO.FileLoadException: Could not load file or assembly 'C:\\Program Files\\Devnz\\GBPVR\\System.Data.SQLite.dll' or one of its dependencies. The given assembly name or codebase was invalid. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80131047)
File name: 'C:\\Program Files\\Devnz\\GBPVR\\System.Data.SQLite.dll'
at System.Reflection.AssemblyName.nInit(Assembly& assembly, Boolean forIntrospection, Boolean raiseResolveEvent)
at System.Reflection.Assembly.InternalLoad(String assemblyString, Evidence assemblySecurity, StackCrawlMark& stackMark, Boolean forIntrospection)
   at System.AppDomain.Load(String assemblyString)
   at GBPVR.Backend.Common.xcbcfc48b9705b7a2.x36be875b9fe7ea45()

When I start the PVRX2 program on the client, it starts but will not show the menu and hangs. It maxes out one core of the CPU and I have to force it to end. I have verified the file mentioned in the error exists. I do have a couple of plugins installed (comskip.exe), would this cause any problems? Thanks in advance!

That above error is common with clients but not the source of the issue. The subsequent errors are however. Check firewall and permissions on you server. Make sure that the username logged in on the client exists on the server and that the shares specify permissions for that login.

Does that file exist on your client? 'C:\Program Files\Devnz\GBPVR\System.Data.SQLite.dll'

On the server i did have the user password protected. I have removed the password and restarted, but the same thing happens. I also verified that the System.Data.SQLite.dll file exists on the client. I keep thinking it is a network issue, but can not figure it out! Any more ideas?

UPDATE: I installed gbpvr on another client, but the same thing happens! Do I need to configure the server differently? I just updated the server to the latest version and the clients are on the latest version.

winxp, vista, and probably 7(haven't tried) will not allow you to login through the network with a blank password unless you edit some security settings. its best to make make sure you have same user/pass on each machine.

What he said.

Add the password back and make sure that whatever username/password you are using on the client also exists on the server and has read/write access to the shares.

@sub, I don't know why the missing SQLite dll error occurs (file existed for me) but I got it every time on my client. It had no effect on operation though so I ignored it.

The server is running on windows XP home edition (not a good thing) so changing the permissions on the share is proving difficult. I have added the same username/password to both computers and restarted both computers, but no change. The logs indicate the same error and the PVRX2 window still hangs and shows no menu and takes up all the CPU.

You guys are great to help me out, thanks a lot!

Just in case you are not sure what I mean by hangs I attached a screenshot of the PVRX2. Notice how it copies whatever is underneath it when it starts and the icon is incorrect.

How long should it take to load the program? Am I just not waiting long enough?

Thanks!
UPDATE: I logged into safe mode in Windows XP home edition on the server and matched the administrators password to the client as well as changed the permissions to everyone full control, but it did not fix it.

From the client computer, go to Start -> Run and type in "\\Htpc\gbpvr" and click OK. Does it open to the GBPVR folder on your server?

If that works, right click the stop.bat in that folder and select "Edit". Does it open (should be in notepad)? If that works, can you save it back to the same location?

Do I need to setup any channels or EPG on the client? It should pull that from the server right? I just can't think of any reason why it would hang like this.
