due to a problem, i uninstalled and reinstalled GBPVR, but i've got problems now. (possibly a service issue?)

GBPVR.exe is constantly running in the background now, eating cpu cycles between 20 and 60%. My cursor is constantly flicking between the hourglass and the regular cursor as the cpu usage fluxuates with GBPVR.exe in the background. if i restart my computer, I get the same problem. In fact - it starts doing this even before I log in, and am sitting at the winxp logon screen.
Further, the desktop gbpvr.exe seems to be working, but if i try to start the MediaMVP server it does not start up, and when i restart the computer, it doesn't automatically restart, as i've set it up to do through the config file. I have both Hauppauge's MVPMedia and MVPMediasrc services set to manual and stopped.

when i go to the config file and try to make a change or two and then restart the service, it's a crapshoot whether the service will actually stop, or whether it will just hang there forever.

I've had GBPVR working great on my machine here for 4 months now, and the only difference i can see is that I uninstalled and reinstalled, and the version i reinstalled was GBPVR09413.msi . (the one i was using up until today was the previous version.) Can anyone give me a tip on what i should look at to see why the mediamvp service is not starting, and why the gbpvr.exe is always actively running, even when restarting? (my only guess here is that the gbpvr.exe is constantly trying to start the auto mediamvp server service but is not successful?...)

forgot to add that the cpu problem "disappears" when i manually stop the GB-PVR Recording service, so it's definitely related to this service:eek: . And when i said that i thought that GB-PVR was working from the computer if not from the tv (because the media mvp service would never start) i can't say that for sure. I haven't tried taping anything yet directly from the computer. all i know i that i can navigate through the weekly tv shows and schedule the recordings. This is true whether or not the GB-PVR recording service is running or not.

I fiddled with this all last night and just can't get it to work. I have a Hauppauge USB2 tuner (external) and my settings are as follows:

Recording Source - Direct Recording Plugin.
Capture Card - Hauppauge WinTV PVR2 USB
Country Canada
Board Number Capture Device #1
Source S-Video - External Tuner.

I'm also using 'zap2it' and 'hauppauge IR Blaster Plugin'.

Number of servers to autostart = 1

that's all the info i think is important...

Can you zip and attach your GBPVRRecordingService.exe.log?

The only way I found to start fresh is to remove the application GBPVR, WinTv and all Hauppauge programs and also intervideo through add/remove programs, then go through your documents aqnd setting folder and delete everyhting related to those programs, search the registry and delete all entries from the same programs. then empty the recycle bin and reboot. after that , re-install the drivers and wintv and check that everything works ok there. then re-install GBPVR . you'll have to reconfig everything, but it'll work like new.

paf077/spyder40 - i uninstalled absolutely everything and reinstalled absolutely everything, and it worked. for a short time until i changed to the BlueMCE2 skin. then it stopped working with the same symptoms as above. I changed back to the default skin and all was well. So maybe there's something wrong with BlueMCE2, but i was using that skin without a problem prior to the latest upgrade of GBPVR so i'm not sure what's changed.
