NextPVR 6.14.230625 - Custom Skin Problem

No panic, but I noticed a couple of problems with NPVR 614230625 on Windows 10.

o My custom background skin fails when using the web, Kodi/Knewc and Nlite.
  Instead I get a black background.  I am using RecordingsView classic.

o Are custom skins supposed to be put in C:\Program Files\NextPVR\data\skin?

o I decided to revert back to NPVR 613230521 using uninstall/reinstall.
  An uninstall generates an error message when you ask it to NOT delete any user data.
  However, my custom skin was deleted as well, it's good that I had a backup.

Yes sub made the unfortunate decision to default to fast background mode (FBM) which knewc doesn't support so you will get a black background. For others client that support FBM you need to use the background-nlite.jpg.

Yes uninstall deletes the program folder which includes most customizations.

That wasn't intended to be the case. I'll fix it.

The change was around sessions being reestablished after being inactive for a long period and timing out.

If you're using a custom skin, you'll also need to make sure you've copied ThumbSkip.xml from the default release. This was a new file in this current release.

Other than that change, there has been several small tweaks to the skin files in the last couple of releases. These probably wont break your skin if it's older, but you may miss out on those improvements if your skin doesn't have the same changes.

What nlite are you using? The from https://nextpvr.com/client.zip? This shouldn't have resulted in a black background.

OK i misunderstood that change.  However if you change it to default to FBM after the timeout, KNEWC will still get the black screen on a session.validate after a timeout, unless as I've noted before FBM can be reinstated after session.validate. Whether that is worse than FBM clients getting the default skin is hard to say since FBM doens't provide as much benefit as it used too.

Thanks, I'll sort through all this and test more thoroughly on my test server.

I must comment however, with all these changes, I really really hope that you do not stop one of my top 10 favourite features from working - the random photo that can be displayed when the client is inactive.  I frequently sit in my easy chair admiring my photo collection!

The nlite that is currently available for download, dated 20230621, does not seem to work properly as it doesn't connect to remote nxtpvr servers.
On 192.168.0.110 I invoked this release via shortcut to target:
C:\utility\nlite_client@20230621\NLite.exe -server 192.168.0.106:8866:0000
with start in directory:
C:\utility\nlite_client@20230621

What gets displayed on my screen is the 192.168.0.110 server, not the 192.168.0.106 server.

Looks like you're missing a colon:

NLite.exe -server:localhost:8866:0000
