Hi. Upgraded recently to 6.1.4.230625 and have some new odd behaviour.

Firstly, additional files in the recordings folder. I now have .timings .map and .thumbnails files for each recording. These are for both in progress recordings (expected) and completed recordings (not expected).

This latest version is also locking the last recording so the files can not be copied without restarting the NPVR service to release the lock. The locked files are .ts and .timings

I do not have the 'keep digital tuners primed' box ticked.

Cheers,

See here https://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?tid=64887 The ts.map file isn't new but it wasn't always being created and it is required for in progress viewing. It should be deleted when the recording and all the extra file have finished being created and the file is not being played.

The .thumbnails and .timing files are used to provide the recently add thumbnails feature for skipping.

The .map files have always been there in Windows builds, and should disappear when the recording has completed.

Thanks for the suggestions. The extra files aren't an issue, thought it might be a symptom of a problem.

What is strange is the file locking. I transfer the files off NPVR so I can use them in TSDoctor then store on Plex.

I get this (attached).

Restarting the NPVR service fixes it but this is new behaviour.

Thanks.

That isn't strange the thumbnail and timing files will take time to conclude after the recording finishes and parallel processing can't continue if you are moving files or opening them exclusively.

Since you are using Plex you won't need the thumbnail file, it primarily is for the web player and NextPVR.exe and UI client users who like them

Since you are using TSDoctor on the file the timing file should not be used in any case so just disable thumbnails.

It's locking the .ts file too unfortunately. This is a good 12 hours after the recording has finished.

We would need to see the zipped logs. There is no reason it would be locked if thumbnail creation is turned off. I have seen one log where thumbnail creation was taking hours because of poor quality source.

I'll start with disabling thumbnails and go from there.
Thanks.

This is in the logs before the service is restarted. Posting several times a second.

Yes I have seen that before and noted it to sub to investigate. You can check to see if you have NextPVR transcoding enabled in the web settings.

Snippets don't help though sending the entire zipped log is recommended.
