Honestly, for most IPTV providers, I wouldn't expect it to make any difference at all.

The reality is that most of the IPTV services are pretty shonky and it's hard to rely on a working consistently for a couple of hours at a time. They often have lots of little micro outages, and encoding problems, or sometimes the services are oversubscribed and can't keep up with real time.

Thanks Martin that may have worked although I need to run a few more tests. I recorded a two hour game replay which came in at 1:25 so I need to see if that was really the full length or not. Otherwise I recorded a 3 hour edition of The Herd which seemed to get extra time at 3:15 and a three hour high school football came that came in at the exact right time of 3:03 (padding).
