Can we just use Remote Desktop Connection tool to get in and change things on a Nextpvr running on windows?  Not wanting to play video, but do want to edit settings.

What settings are you talking about? Most settings are changed in the web browser.

RDP will be much slower than directly in the web interface.

I have NextPVR running on an old Dell Optiplex Win7 machine out in the garage. Its rare that i need to do anything with NextPVR that way, but i do use remote desktop to get in to do things.
Don't even remember what i needed to do but just saying you can do it that way if you need to. As said most things i do from a browser from in the house.

RDP is a Windows thing - not an NPVR thing.

As long as you have Windows Pro or better you can enable it.

My "server" is headless so RDP is the only method of connecting and has been for years
