Currently I have these two remotes up & running

(the second one isn't really in contention as the keys are on the small side & a bit too close together to be easy to use) but it does have the four skip buttons as the first one only has two of them.

Firstly I am trying to figure out what should work in uidroid as I have some combinations that I use daily & have used for close to 20 years that I can't seem to use currently.

On the wiki in recordings it says "Skip xx minutes/seconds" "Number +", Number + what?

Secondly is it possible to page a screen at a time sideways in the TV Guide?
There are a number of keys that page up & down but I can't find anything for sideways.

You (Martin that is) also mentioned somewhere that there is a way to customise keys, this could be useful for that first remote as it has lots of keys that are not being used currently & some like 'Guide' that don't do what they say.

All the keys are the same as on the NMT/MVP. The "what" key would be the arrow left or right depending on the direction. You may not have followed my suggestion on the wiki for FF/RW setting to use Short Skip. If you are using thumbnails I guess the "what" key could also be page up/down to avoid turning on thumbnails.

The guide skipping by hours isn't defined because so few remotes have both prev/next track and FF and RW keys. You could use the ctrl keys on the back I suppose. It used to be on Long arrows I think but I had to take that out when I added key repeat so you could hold down the arrows. I use the 3hr guide so don't page much an long 1 resets (it is also the guide key)

Any key that isn't 100% defined gets written to a clientstore file in the data directory. If you touch all the keys and send the logs I can tell you which ones you have.

The "what" was a "me" one as I 'now' seem to remember I had tweaked skip keys on the NMT's years & years ago (possibly when Fast Play was introduced) so I was pressing the wrong keys for these days.... and yes I had missed the FF/RW Short Skip change as well... now both the left right & page up page down are doing the business for me. Thanks.

I also have my guide set to three hours & I will be able to 'live with' it just using the arrow keys.... but I am sure I will curse at times. BTW there doesn't seem to be a ctrl key on the remote keyboard.

I will look at the other keys tomorrow (if I feel up to it) & post the logs... one problem currently is I have both remotes hooked up so it could be confusing.

One thought I did have when looking at the wiki was the letter keys on the remote for navigation in the Recording screen (would be very useful) like (the wiki says) are there for Videos (but that don't seem to work currently even though the keyboard does work in the search screen)

For the logging just use the exit key to start a new session and do your testing all keys on the main menu with one remote, exit and repeat. I can figure the logs out.

Letter keys work for me in the Video library, but maybe not elsewhere. Did you check NextPVR.exe that could likely be a fix for sub. Since I use date descending order in Recordings the percentage jumps work best for me.

I will supply some logs shortly for all the keys.

I only tried letter keys in Videos & they did nothing.... NextPVR doesn't have letter navigation & never has had as far as I know.

We have over 1300 folders in Recordings which is why I am interested in letter navigation up & down the list if it could be made to work.... number navigation does work but is rather limited especially at the bottom of the list.

Again sub may need to do some work to make letter navigation work consistently. It works here in Videos differences would need logs if sub wants to fix it but because of KeyMapping.xml you might have to remove

The reason the bottom of the list is worse is probably factoring in the "The"s maybe use a SortExpression.

I think we are talking a cross purposes here.... what I am talking about is (from the keyboard reference on the wiki) "Jump to the first item that starts with that letter." navigation

I think were are talking about the same thing https://streamable.com/sf02hk (in the video library) We also both saying recordings don't work but even my test wiki doesn't give A-Z as an option there so that isn't new.

OK yep we are on the same page.... I thought/think that being able to have it in recordings as well might be a good thing & for sure would help us (as in the boss & me) a lot.

But for me it doesn't work in Videos using either remote.... logs attached

I see the alpha keys coming in and they look ok, and I have used those for many versions so can't explain it. Maybe try the Default skin in Slide out mode to see if that works.

For the remote configuration look for clientstore-f6a4b6b84681943f.xml in your data folder. You will have some keys in there and they can be defined regular and long press (upper case is long) and also different when video is playing (a _video is added)
