Did you upgrade the client shortcut to the new location?  C:\Program Files\NextPVR\client\NextPVR.exe it is still available you don't need the web player.

There was pain, I'll say that. Most quirky setup of any app yet. I didn't see anything about upgrading the client shortcut to the new location. I'll check out the link, thank you so much.

Thank you to everyone who responded, you helped a LOT. For anyone upgrading late, this is what I learned. Yes, it is an easier install - but only if you've never installed it before. The wiki was somewhat helpful, but could've been clearer.

Here's what I didn't expect: The channel and device settings (the nuts and bolts of getting programming) is now web based. I had Schedules Direct already, so that was helpful, and worth every penny. The other thing that I didn't expect was that the recording service was built in. There's no little icon to click on to start the recording service after you reboot. It's just there. I was so confused with this install because of those two things. I did have to change every channel to my Schedules Direct programming, so know that you may have to do that. They're probably an easier way, but I'm only using it for broadcast channels, so there weren't too many. But we're up and running, recordings are scheduled, and I can safely update all my Kodi clients to 21. Yippee!! So, thank you again for your time and help!

Not sure why you had to reset SD, but on the Settings->Channels->Advanced tools I suggest for broadcast you automap to None then Automap by channel number. The recording service in v4 should also have run without clicking anything you may have set it up incorrectly.

I actually think Graham did an amazing job on the wiki and he can't be thanked enough for the work. Sure it could be clearer (you probably were most interested in upgrading, most readers will start fresh) but no one has volunteered to help make it better.

I also probably didn't understand the intricacies from the beginning. Yeah, that Services icon had to start every time or nothing would record. "Broadcast my automap to None then Automap by channel number." Ok... I'll try it. Honestly I don't know that that means, but I know what broadcasting is and I know what mapping is, so I'll go from there, lol. I have to figure out grouping too, that's also not the same. At least it isn't like it was in 4, my 4 anyway. I'm going to spend some time tomorrow and figure it out better. But the main elements are working at least! Graham explained it, but it could have been worded for those of us who aren't technically familiar with PVR stuff. I was impressed with myself for installing and setting up the quad tuner, that was a biggie! I'll be back on the wiki for broadcasting my mapping.
