Devices unavailable WebUI settings

On the Devices page all tuners show as unavailable but I'm able to scan for channels on each dvb-t tuner separately and they all find the same set of channels sp that bit is working.

I cleared all channels from all devices and scanned just adapter0 dvb-t, saved the channels then selected each of the others and copied the channels over. If I go to the Channels page in WebUI and try to watch a channel I get an error saying "No tuner was available for the selected channel".

So why the "unavailable" on the devices page? Is that likely to be why watching live tv fails? Also when I try to update EPG nothing happens.

It's basically looking in /dev/dvb, and not finding any devices, so the devices that you previously had are marked as unavailable. (ie, thinking they're unplugged or uninstalled etc)

I am guessing your server is starting before the devices are detected via dmesg and before networking is working. Does anything change if you run

sudo service nextpvr-server restart

You might need a delay in PostStartup.sh I've posted some scripts on the forum.

Yes, thanks Martin.

Everything seems to work now if I restart the service. I cleared everything out, rebooted and before using WebUI I restarted the service. The "(unavailable)" on each device didn't show at that point. I scanned adapter0 again then did an EPG Update and then copied adapter0 to the other 3.

Firefox is blocking live TV playback but that's a Settings issue I don't care about. The Android TV box I got has uidroid on it and it's able to watch live TV fine.

This is all still temporary as I haven't got my new server hardware yet plus the aerial cable is hanging out of the ceiling under my office chair at the desk in my study. At least I know it'll work with Debian although I haven't tried any recordings yet.

What you should do is read the start of the dmesg output to find out how many seconds it takes for networking and the dvb card to become available after boot. Once you get find that you can add that to PreStartup.sh (dion't forget chmod +x) https://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.ph...#pid530707
