Hi there.
I am just wondering, where does the info about the TV scanning frequencies in each country come from?
I looked through a few of the files for Melbourne regions, including South Yarra, and I notice that there is a channel missing.
Thanks.

Users. Unfortunately here is no definitive source for these on Windows or Linux which is why the fully frequency scans are often needed.

Oh, I just thought there was an official online source of scanner frequencies somewhere.

Sub, the author of NextPVR would have to speak on the history but these can be calculated mathematically. DVB-T spectrum has a range with a start point and it is then increments based on offset of 5, 6, 7 or 8 Mhz, (DVB-C and DVB-S are not the same) The reason for your post might be the misleading "All Countries - All Regions.ini" which is not really true. You are in Australia you have a different start for UHF and use 7 not 8 Mhz which is why would use "Australia - All Regions.ini"

In most countries spectrum being a valuable commodity has been sold off and I expect many places no longer use the higher spectrum for broadcast.

Can anyone tell me, If you perform a scan using your smart TV instead of Nextpvr, does it display the technical info the way nextPVR does, with frequency information and whatnot?
Out of interest, every place in Melbourne I've lived in so far use the frequencies from Australia - Melbourne.ini, with one exception, A retirement village in Hawthorn, this requires the use of the Australia - All Regions option, which is slower. Actually, I don't know if things are still that way, since it's been nearly 8 years since I last lived there.
Just out of curiosity, Has anyone else living in Melbourne Australia noticed that in some areas , you need to use the all regions setting, or else it won't find the channels if you just choose the Melbourne region?

Thanks for this info, it's really appreciated.
Because I am blind and have never owned or used a smart TV or any of the modern digital TV sets before, can anyone answer my query regarding the information that shows up when you scan for channels using modern day TV sets? does it just show the names of the channels, or the technical details like frequencies and such?
Thanks.

It possibly depends on different make and model but every TV I've had in the past 20 years has shown channel name, number and frequency.

Cheers,
Brian
