Hello,

I do not know where this question belongs so please move if you feel so.  I have an awesome setup here where I am with my HDhomeruns for now however long ATSC 1.0 will work.  I do have a remote place, with an antenna up there also whence I frequent.  Straight into TV.

I have some decent old hardware laying around with a Hauupage USB Dual OTA tuner, PLUS I have a TAP VPN Server here locally that I use.  So I was wondering... will something like this work?

https://www.eltima.com/products/usb-over-ethernet/

Thought process would be install proper drivers on the computer and make sure it works, then have the computer connect to TAP VPN Server here with a static IP.  Would my local NextPVR solution pick it up?  I cannot easily test this, as remote location is 1000 miles away.

Wanted the brain trusts' input.

Thank you.

I don't think I've heard of anyone trying this. I doubt it'd work though.

The bandwidth is very high between the tuner and the host, which you probably won't be able to consistently deliver remotely, and latency differences are bound to introduce driver bugs.

It probably would be simpler just to add a NextPVR instance at the remote location and connect to it when you need to. You could even connect the tuners sing IPTV if there are stations you are really interested in having local.

I will have to investigate... it's only really stupid football on Sundays.  I swear my husband has such .001% problems.  Yeah could setup a nextpvr instance with the laptop connected via tap vpn and just connect to it on Sundays.  That makes more sense, but somehow I have a feeling he is going to want it "sucked" into the existing channel guide.

If I recall seeing the Kodi nextpvr plugin had multi-server option.  I shall investigate.

Thank you for indulging me.
