i use an external hard drive to hold gbpvr's recordings.
i notice that if i unplug the hard drive, my recordings stay in video library, but are removed from 'ready'. the 'ready' section of 'recordings' becomes blank.
is there any way to prevent this from happening?
obviously programs wont be recorded if i remove the hard drive - but are there any other risks involved with this?

There is no way to prevent this from happening in GBPVR itself. Too plugins I would recommend.

Either Xrecord or Video Archiver. The first is mine. It has a exe that is included called xexport. You can add it to the postprocessing.bat and call
xexport -all

It will export the database for each show to a file. Xrecord can read that and show it in its ready box. Video Archiver uses a database. I would suggest finding the interface you like best and try it out.

With one of these plugins you should have no problem. Without it you will.

I use a USB external drive - I find gbpvr retains my "Recordings" as long as I exit gbpvr prior to disconnecting the drive, and then reconnect the drive prior to restarting gbpvr. I do this often to transfer video files to another computer for conversion.

No need to to stop the Recording Service - just make sure you're not set to record anything while your drive is disconnected!

thanks, i already use xrecord, but have never modified the postprocessing.bat like that. trying it out!

tipster - it is a 350gb which uses both usb and firewire (recomended by manufacturer) although i only have the usb plugged in currently.

There is an entry in config.xml...

<AutoRemoveMissingRecordings>true</AutoRemoveMissingRecordings>

I'm sure I've seen sub mention it before but the Forum Search isn't showing any results for it. The name suggests that setting it to false will do what you want but I may be wrong.

Cheers,
Brian

You can edit config.xml and set:

<AutoRemoveMissingRecordings>false</AutoRemoveMissingRecordings>
