::nods::

If I just restart the Recording Services its fine. It is when the MVPs are concurrently attempting to contact the tftp for the loading of the dongle.bin.
They all get hung waiting to load. If the MVPs didn't lose power, then there is no issue as they don't have to reload the dongle and thus no issues.

It is not a DHCP problem, my DHCP is run by my router which is the only DHCP authority on my network and I always keep the Hauppauge software disabled.

No solutions... I wish I had a way to point a bit better towards a potential solution. I didn't see anything wierd in the gbpvr.exe.log, it just seemed like the tftp was getting confused or hung with multiple requests to it.

I mentioned DHCP as a potential problem because when the power is restored your router & MVPs will turn on at the same time. Most routers take a few moments to do a self-check & finish booting up, whereas the MVP (being such a "dumb" device) is on & looking for an IP address almost instantly. I was thinking that perhaps the MVPs give up on DHCP before the router is ready & able to respond. A quick & easy way to rule this out is to unplug all of your MVPs (and only the MVPs) for a couple minutes, then plug them all back in at the same time. If you see the same problem then it is apparently not a DHCP issue because the router was up & running the whole time.

In my case the router is on a UPS as is all my other network gear, but not my MVPs -- yet.

wtg Wrote:I believe the problem you're talking about here is related to a dhcp server problem... you must have one on your network. Enabled the Hauppauge services works for you because among other things, the service serves as a dhcp server to the MVP, giving it an IP address.

If you need more info, there are numerous threads about this.

It's not DHCP for me either. Like the other guy in this thread, I use my router for DHCP. You can also see this when the MVP boots. There is a note about using DHCP and then you get to the loading application bar. That's where I hang (with only one MVP).

I wouldn't want to point any fingers, but I do wonder if perhaps the tftp code in GBPVR isn't as robust.

paperchaser Wrote:I have the same problem with 2 MVP's. If they are both on the net during a gbpvr restart, both will freeze at application loading. I do not consider this a major inconvenience in my 1 story house though. I simply unplug 1 until the other loads, then plug in the other and all is well. Also, I never tested it with just the stock hauppage mvp server, so I couldnt say if its an MVP issue or the GBPVR servers.

I've got the same problem with 2 MVP's, but with a 2 story split-level. It's a pain in the butt! Sad

:confused: Has anyone suggested a solution to this yet? I'd believe that the problem is in the TFTP section from getting stuck at "loading application" all the time.
