Hello!

I´ve set up a GBPVR client/server environmet by following this thread;
http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=6132

Got it all working (at last!), including TV Guide and Live TV.
The Host is a AmdXP2500 with 512mb ram, equipped with a PVR150.
As i Client I use a Celeron 2,5ghz with 256mb ram.
They are connected to my homenetwork, 100mbit.

Both computers running windows xp and the server got a perfectly working GBPVR that I also hooked up an MVP to.

The problem is that LiveTV very easily gets out of sync on the client and the
stream seams a bit "slow" as well as the GBPVR interface.
Anyone else tried to set up a client/server with 100% success?
Did you have any trouble sync on LiveTV. The picture lags but the sound continues = out of sync...

I really just want/need LiveTV to work on the client(s).

It seems that you are one of few people how got this far. Could you please confirm that Jean-Christophes summary in that thread is correct and this is the same setup you have?

Jean-Christophes method pretty much describes the things I did... but to
sum up briefly this is the way I setup my client/server.

* First I installed GBPVR (latest v0.94.13) on the "server" with everything working a 100%.
* Uncheck "live preview mode" in the config app.
* In the config.xml on the server, change;

<RecordingServiceLocation>tcp://192.168.0.102:7968/RecordingRemote</RecordingServiceLocation>

where 192.168.0.102 is the servers ip.

* Also change "<!-- Database settings -->" to UNC path. In my case:
<DatabaseConnectionString>Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source="\\SERVER\devnz\gbpvr\gbpvr.mdb";User Id=admin;Password=</DatabaseConnectionString>

* Then the "<!-- Media library settings -->" needs to be written in UNC. Like:
<RecordingsDirectory>\\SERVER\\_tv_program</RecordingsDirectory>
<LiveTVDirectory>\\SERVER\\_tv_temp</LiveTVDirectory>

Videolibraries and Musiclibraries also needs to be changed if you want to use the mediafiles on the server from the client.

Now the serversetup is done. On the Client I installed GBPVR and after installation be sure to uncheck live preview (if checked).

* In the clients config.xml change all the things listed above;
RecordingServiceLocation
DatabaseConnectionString
RecordingsDirectory
LiveTVDirectory

Thats it.
Unlike from Jean-Christophe i don´t have FFdshow and lame decoder installed.
I did the quartz.dll swap but the streamed TV still is choppy, "slow" or out of sync. Any suggestions how to progress?

I've got this setup as well but have the same problem on one of my clients, the video is choppy and seems to lag or freeze, but the audio continues on fine.

The strange thing is it works perfectly on a different computer, it starts off just a very tiny bit choppy, but then it works perfectly after that, as long as I don't run other applications. I wonder if it has anything to do with the video card not fast enough, as I have different video cards in all my machines.

In my client computer I have integrated graphics from Ati (9100, based on the rs300 chip). I´ll try downloading the Omega drivers and se if they give some improvements over the Ati drivers.

Whats the specs on your client computers?

I haven't had much time to play around with it since I got it setup a few weeks ago, but maybe I'll take a look at it this weekend and see if different codecs or something might help.

Oh and one thing I've had a problem with is the OSD on the clients. Whenever the On Screen Display comes up, my picture goes black until the OSD is gone. Not sure what causes this, but I have it on all 3 of my clients, I've tried both overlay and vrm9,7 and different codecs but still have this problem. Anyone else get this?
