This is the one thing that has bugged me so far - having to leave my box on standby (and that being the highest power wasting setting as well) especially overnight when recording late night.

Cheers guys - now I can record & not have keep manually shutting it off afterwards - works a treat.

Hi,

for now the system going to freeze after "START GBPVR.EXE"
I added this command in wake.cmd a line before :EXIT.

The case:

- gbpvr.exe runs
- PC goes to hibernate after idle time
- a scheduled recording wakeup the PC
- wake.cmd works:
- - stop ir.exe
- - stop gbpvr service
- - restart PVR350 device
- - start gbpvr service
- - start ir.exe
- - 2 seconds after "START gbpvr.exe" the PC freeze

Is there a idle time required?

any ideas?

Im still having a few difficulties getting my box to wake up!

I have GBPVRWake (cheers sub) and have coppied MaBo's batch file and followed the instructions. The problem is my box simply does not wake up once its hibernated to record a show. If i manually start it up again everything starts as it should and the syslog file shows everything was succesful.
I have the 'wake' settings on in BIOS.

Any ideas as to what might prevent my PC from waking up?

I'm not sitting at a PC right now, but you'll need to examine your bios power management settings and the ones under windows to see how you have your machine configured for hibernate/suspend, etc.

CAn you schedule a windows task to bring the machine up from hibernate mode?

is there a specific way of doing this?

I requested one of the windows games run about 5 minutes after it went into hibernation. It didnt wake up for that either.

One thing i think is strange is i used a few programs like Desktop X and Window Blinds to try to make the desktop more TV friendly (later uninstalled all of them) But my Login/Task manager screens have changed and i no longer have the option to standby. A repair install didnt change this and i think its the root of my problem?

UPDATE: Login/Task manager/Shutdown screen is down to the User Accounts>Change the way users log on or off. one of those programs must have changed this, but i still cant get a 'Standby' option

stu8080, what version of windows are you using? If XP, you could roll back to a snapshot before you installed those other apps.

yeah im using XP Pro... ive already tried system restore to no avail!

Previous to your request - can i schedule a task to wake the PC, i have no radio button in Scheduled Tasks>Power management to 'wake the computer to run this task'.

Weird huh! Im thinking of reinstalling windows and GB-PVR (its dedicated to this program so shouldnt be too much hassle)

Strange there is not a check/radio box for this. Though is windows smart enough to know your system cannot do this so it does not offer you this feature?

If this machine is to be used for nothing other than GBPVR, i would reinstall this machine, otherwise start searching help forums for assistance on getthing this restored to former glory (probably quicker to reinstall!.

i think you are right.

im sure my mobo is capable, it has exactly the same Power Management BIOS options as my main pc which can wake from hibernation.

I'll tell you the difference in an hour or two!

I had a problem also when the system would not wake from hibernation. It appears to be different from you problem, but it maybe helpful.

The configuration was that after say x minutes the system went into stanby and y minutes later into hibernation. However, when going from standby to hibernation requires some windooz action. This was recognised as a system wake, so the wake.cmd script was started. The system went into hibernation when it had just stopped the gbpvr recordingservice. This service is responsible for waking the system to record. But, when it is not running, it cannot wake the system.
The solution was to disable system standby and let the system go into hibernation after x+y minutes.

The wake.cmd script checks whether another version of the script is running and exits in that case. It cannot, however, detect whether it wakes from standby or from hibernation.
