Trust me to pick the weekend when the wikki site is down.

I have done a search of a few forums and have found no answers or suggestions to why I'm having this problem, which is:

There is something wrong with the S-video out of the MVP or there is something wrong with how my TV is dealing with the signal.

Basically there is a colour signal problem. The GBPVR screen is orange instead of blue and this is also carried through to other playback material, recorded and live feed.

Skin tones are blue.

Both GB-PVR and the MVP menu are affected thru s-video. Have tried it on each, same problem.

Have swapped in 3 different s-cables, have fed direct to TV instead of thru amp, still there.

Have updated to latest version.

Live TV thru GBPVR and Win TV on PC all fine. Thru MVP s-video out problem still there.

No option for selecting S or RCA video so no choice there.

As the problem isn't there thru the RCA video out, you can only assume it is something within the MVP unit itself that handles the S-video output that is the problem.

Or the way my 100Hz Loewe TV handles the s-video output from the MVP
I will try another monitor with S-vid on Tuesday.

Until then, any suggestions?

Have you tried svideo into amp, and composite out from there? Or composite to amp and svideo to TV? That might tell you if it is the MVP or the TV.

Also, could it be a PAL-NTSC thing?

I'm not quite sure, but I think that would render a black-and-white picture.
I'm not always right

You select S-video or compisite under "settings" in the original Hauppauge MVP program.

No, the only setting available under settings, 'video output' is 'enabled' This is the only option in the onscreen settings menu. (this is in NZ, the MVP only has s-video or composite RCA out)

When S-Video is used the MVP menu screens are Red, when RCA is used they are blue. Something happening with the blue colour when using s-video.

Could it be the s-video input on your tv? Can you try either another tv, or another s-video source, just to rule out that possiblity?

My final call would be my TV not recognising the s-video put out by the MVP.

I already feed the TV via s-video with my Panasonic E100H DVD/HDD recorder no problem.

So either the MVP is faulty or the TV doesn't like the s-video signal its getting from the MVP.

Old Zenith 29" TV: (over 8 years old)
I had a problem with the composite RCA also, it was to green on my TV. Using the composite RCA through a VCR and that fixed it.
Did not use s-video because my TV and VCR did not have them.

Samsung 47" wide screen projection TV: (under 2 years)
No problems on the composite RCA or s-video

At this point, I'd either be returning it, or more likely, tearing it apart, and checking for a solder bridge, or something obvious.

I have always had a problem with s-video from the mvp, when selected the colours go very dark and i get alot of flicker. I put it down to that i am using a dongle file from the usa site and i am in the uk Pal, using this file i dont get the option to select RGB. Just a thought.
