I still have the problem. I only watch shows and sometimes listen to net radio (which does not have the problem)

I have tried: different MVP, different router, no firewall, 3 dongles, no plugins, high and low mvp preplay delays, no auto comskip, .net 2.0 beta, and I am sure I am missing a couple.

I have not tried the network tweaks like the onboard processor because I don't understand the directions completly and it just does not seem like a network thing to me. I almost tried the crossover cable but I would have to take apart my desk to do it. At this point I am just awaiting the next release and hope the problem goes away. I could roll back several versions but it is not that huge of a deal as long as I have hope it may go away. I would be up for any suggestions.

Maybe we can compare systems and look for a common item.

I have an Athlon 2100, 1 gig ram, a couple of drives, GBPVR 94.13, net radio, video archive, tv guide and live tv plugins. Also have comskip up and running.
A Linksys WRT54g router, and I am back to the standard supplied dongle.

Let me know if you see anything or figure this one out.

soccerdad, you said with older gbpvr releases you didn't have this problem? Is the only difference the software version or did you change any hardware.

I've only had my MVP about 3 weeks and have only used version 94.13 with it.

I guess I'll just wait for the next release and hope, although I'm not sure if it is a software issue or an environment/configuration issue.

It did not happen in earlier releases for me. I think it is just the last 2 or 3. I did change the router but I tested with the old one and have the same issue. That said, I have been adding skins, working with comskip and adding other software to the PC so it could be something I have done. I also reloaded Windows about the same time but I am not sure if it was when it started happening. I will wait for the next release and if it does not fix it, I will reinstall everything. My guess is that this will solve everything but I don't have the time to do it right now. Let me know if you find anything.

I'm not aware of anything changed in the last couple of release that would have caused this for you. There also hasnt been any changes in this area in the next release, so I'm guessing you'll still have the problem.

Thanks Sub. I know you would fix it if it was something you thought was wrong. Obviously there are just a few of us with the issue. Most likely it is just a strange set of issues with our setups. I will try to reinstall everything and let you know how it works. I am still looking forward to the next release though. It's like Christmas is coming..... I guess it is.....

Well - count me in among the "few". It is a nuisance of some proportions here, as I'm using it quite a lot to watch recorded cartoons/child shows with my 2½ year old son.

Even though he usually is patiently waiting for the reboot of the server after almost each cartoon, it is often shows of approx. 5-10 minutes, so there can be a lot of long pauses. Sad

To me it has also been a problem that has increased in magnitude over the last few versions. However, I'm using VideoArchive as the main user interface, and I'm uncertain if it is a problem of VA or GBPVR.

Other than VA I'm not using any other plugins, I'm on the most recent version of both; the rest of my setup is below in the signature.

For what it's worth, I'm one of the few also. I didn't have this problem with previous versions but I'm trying a lot more plugins this time so it's not an apples to apples comparison. It crashes almost excusively for me when I try to skip forward or backward during the last 5-8mins of a currently recording or existing file.
If I can help by sending in logs I'm happy to do so.
Thanks!

Ok, I'll take another look at the logs. Zip and attach your gbpvr.exe.log and I'll take a look.

I've been trying to reproduce this here this morning, but its seems to reliably switch between shows for me.

For what it is worth, I also mainly use VA but it also happens watching live tv at the end of a show so I would not think it is VA but????
