I've heard a lot of questions about clienting, and I liked your summary, so I copied it to Tips/GBPVRNetworkClient

OK, nice, but as I repeat, it doesn't work for me
I must have a stupid error, but I don"t find it and logs are not explicit...

Amazing that the guy the 'wrote' this has dissappeared.. Or at least that is what it seems to me. I have not tried his HOW-TO yet myself, but it seems like there are people with problems..

If someone else can try and tell me where I made a mistake, I can adapt this sumary.
But, up to now, I don't know what to try else.

I sort of got this working in that I have a 'player-client' that reads the database from a 'server'. So on the client you see the recordings that the server has created.
The first mistakes I made with shares and permissions - usual network stuff. Unfortunatley unlike normal networking you don't get any feedback it either works or it dosn't. I have some more tinkering to do, but I will post any positive results I have.

Three tuners: Twinhan DVB-T x 1, Hauppauge Nova 500T (dual) DTB Digital SD + HD content (PAL-MPEG2-AC3). Custom case made very quiet. Zalman CPU cooler. Sits in rack with other HiFi. ParaLED to show tuner activity. Display: 42" 1920x1080p Panasonic Plasma 1x wired MVP 1x PC client

I can confirm that I have the client reading from the server database giving the client access to the EPG as well as recorings "whats new" "pending" etc. A recording job can be called from the EPG on the client and the server will conduct the recording.
It took some stuffing around to get the network addresses EXACTLY right. And I found I had to set the <AutoRemoveMissingRecordings>false</AutoRemoveMissingRecordings> to FALSE otherwise it seemed to erase parts of the recorded listing? The areas of the config.xml I changed are below Note the server has the network name 'europa'. 'devnz\gbpvr-09412a' and \\europa\tv are shared folders with unrestricted permissions within the (simple crossover ethernet) network. The port 7968 was opened in the server config.exe - misc <!-- Remote client settings --> <RecordingServiceLocation>tcp://europa:7968/RecordingRemote</RecordingServiceLocation> <!-- database settings --> <DatabaseConnectionString>Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source="\\europa\devnz\gbpvr-09412a\gbpvr.mdb";User Id=admin;Password=</DatabaseConnectionString> <!-- Media library settings --> <RecordingsDirectory>\\europa\tv\</RecordingsDirectory> Obviously I can't comment on stability just yet. I would love to be able to prevent the recording service from starting on the client but I am not sure this is possible.

Did you suceeded in watching "Live TV" on client?

No, but it was never my objective I use a Topfiled set top box for live TV. I only use GBPVR for recording and thus only need one tuner.
But I will give it a try and let you know.
