Quote:I keep 14 days of EPG from XMLTV. The XMLTV file is ~8meg but
the access file is 64meg when loaded into a CLEAN/EMPTY database (which started at ~500K)!

Is this normal or is something funny going on?
That sounds fairly normal. Some people have had them severl hundreds meg. As I mentioned above, an ugly side affect of using the access database is that they grow, but never shrink (even when I delete data).

Quote:Also is there anyway to automate the database compacting?
It will currently try to automatically compact the database when you press ok button in the config app, but this only works if there is no database connections. This requirement to have no db connections makes it difficult since there are several separate processes that can have these.

I do hope to revisit it some time in the future, but I cant say when.

I just cleaned my database last week and it resized to 1.5MB. Now, 1 week later, its 187MB. Is there any tric to resize it automatically? I don't fancy doing this every week manually.

Mine grows quickly, too. I just keep reducing it manually. Sub has mentioned looking into this at some time in the future...
