Hello,

with my PVR350 , (and NO tv-out, just software decoding), the applications freezes right away if I press ctrl+f or ctrl+right arrow while watching a video. What's that, and how can I fix this?

thanks,
Frank

When that continues to occur, I uninstall and reinstall gbpvr or run scandisk and defragmentation utilities.

well.... that's not what I was looking for as a solution to the problem :-)

More particular, I'm wondering what exactly might cause the issue so I can work on making it go away.

Best regards,
Frank

I've had the same problem using a Haupagge PVR-150 for the last six months or so. Usually I can skip up once or twice, but often the recording will freeze. The problem generally seems to be less severe in AVI files - sometimes it'll freeze, but I can press the menu button on the control to go back to the main menu. However, with the recordings, I have to reboot (or terminate GB-PVR which is difficult because I've set it up as a standalone box without a keyboard).

I also use comskip, and can't say I've every had a problem with one of the automatic skips.

Other than this problem, GBPVR has worked flawlessly for me. But this particular flaw is somewhat annoying, since after reboot, you can't just advance to the spot in the clip that the program locked up.

I would say there is a big chance your decoder has a problem with skipping. Try using another decoder and see if the problem goes away.

I use the cyberlink codec, which is skipping just fine within PowerDVD.
Can this be the problem, still?

thanks,
Frank

I don't know. It works fine for me with cyberlink. Don't you have any other lying around that you can switch to, at least to rule out the possibility, I mean?

I'll give it a try when I'm back home. I'm running an EPIA and a PVR350, too.
So you must have solved the problem somehow differently - I wonder how? Smile

My computer freezes immediately if I use cyberlink for audio decoding. So I have used cyberlink for video and intervideo for audio. This has resulted in a slight asynch between audio and video, so last week I started using intervideo for both audio and video. Perfect synch. Slightly less quality in video, but I can live with that.

Switching from the system default to the Ulead MPEG Decoder solved this problem for me (I think I manually added this decoder to the decoders list when trying to fix an earlier problem). Skipping is now a joy and I haven't seen a lockup yet. Thanks stefan.
