I have an idea to RIP all my DVD's to Hard Disc[s], so that I can access them from my PC [and to stop the kids "wrecking" the dics] using GB-PVR. I do not want to compress the files, just have them on my HD and be able to search them like a library

I was wondering if, rather like when you rip a CD, you can get a thumbnail of the album cover, the same effect can be achieved when doing the same with DVD's and can this be done and seen by GB-PVR?

I know that there is protection rights etc, which means that it probably won't do it automatically via the net, but I cannot be the first to think of doing this?

Yes you can, all you need is the folder called VIDEO_TS ripped to your hard disk from the DVD. MyVideos plugin will search the net for the poster image, and other info. I also believe it can rip DVDs using DVD Decrypter, but I have not tried that. You can still rip DVDs outside GBPVR and just copy them to the right folder.

Well this is how I do it, I use DVD decrypter to rip all my DVDS to a .iso. I then downloaded Daemeon tools which is a virtual disk image mounter, which is used by GB-PVR to play iso's. I then put all my iso's in a folder and downloaded the Video archiver plugin which will automatically find thumbnails from the web to display as your DVD cover. Then when you go to play the movie, it will play just like a normal DVD. But you MUST have Daemon tools.
