I have just been given an AV sender which I have hooked up to my pvr350 this seems to work really well although the picture is a bit dark, except that I cannot work out how to get the pvr350 to answer to the remote which should be being sent back via the AV system.

I have the config app set up to use 45 button remote and direct access to hauppauge remote [or words to that effect] I'm at work and cant quite remember what the config app says.

The devices came from argos in the uk partnumber 5344273 costing £24.99 and claim to have "Built-in infrared extender allows you to use your existing remote controls. "

Has anybody else got this type of setup working and if so what config options have you used for the remote

thanks

The 45 button remote does not work with direct access, if I recall correctly?

I borrowed such a device from work and it bad had interference from a cordless telephone, it was like watching a bad porn video. But going from memory it did change my freeview box through the iR remote extender though.

I assume you have tried changing the channels by just aiming the remote to the ir receiver of the 350? Without the involvement of the AV transmitter, I mean? Here is the thread where I read that direct access is not compatible with the 45 button remote:

I guess my advice would be to make sure that it works without the AV transmitter first, if you haven't already.

yes I've tried that, it works fine with the 350 itself in fact at the moment I have to walk from room to room to press ok on the remote etc etc when I'm watching a film in the other room !!

I understand that is frustrating. Can you control other devices with other remotes using the AV transmitter? Like your TV or so? The AV transmitter I have controls my equipment, but I must admit that I have never tried using it to control my pvr-350, so...

unfortuneatly there are no other devices nearby that I can try, although I may try setting it up just beside a vcr to see if it can control that after work tonight

my cable boxes are telewest which have a protocol all of there own so I doubt that it would work with that at all

Ok got this working now

the problem seems to have been that I also installed a nova-t usb2 at the same time and it seems to have been grabbing the remote commands

solution was to deinstall 350 and nova-t and run hwclear

then re-install pvr350 drivers and ir32 application

then re-install nova-t drivers only

works really well other than the tv set in the other room beeps when I press the haupaugge remote

and there is a constant ghosting for want of a better word running right to left on tv screen,

its only really noticable when the tv screen is a fairly staedy colour such as a menu screen or when the action is quite slow during a programme

I'd like to get rid of it though, so if anybody has any ideas of what might cause it I'd be glad to hear them

I've tried moving the transmitter and receiver about but to no real perceptable difference, and to be honest its no worse than watching a vcr but it is annoying when you have become used to the excellent quality gbpvr delivers
