Hi,

Im looking to use GBPVR purely with MVP's to view my XP MCE dvr-ms recordings from the main HTPCV in the living room around the house. Im going to install a couple of extra tuners in the HTPC so the MVP's can show live TV.

All existing recordings are on dual Nova-T DVB-T tuners.

A couple of issues;

When I try to play back DVR-MS recordings on the main pc using GBPVR, the Nvidia icon briefly appears in the task tray then dissappears. The file never plays. I read in another thread that you need the Cyberlink mux installed to playback DVR-MS, which Mux checker says I have. Do I need to do something else to get this working?

For the WAF, Id like to have the MCE recordings show under Recordings with proper names rather than the file name in GBPVR, but when I put the files in the recordings directory they never show up. Presumably, I need to create some utility to generate the correct metadata for my recordings, but where is this stored in GBPVR?

Cheers in advance.

Lol, well thats more of a long term plan, but would cause another problem - the Mrs having to learn a new interface! At least this way Im introducing it via the backdoor in the form of MVPs!

Anyway, I figured out how the recordings are stored, its just the getting the DVR-ms files to play now..

Which version of the Cyberlink mux do you have?

I wont be doing this. GB-PVR creates the correct meta data when it does the recordings itself.

GB-PVR has detected the following multiplex filters on your machine:

Found: CyberLink MPEG Muxer
FILE: C:\WINDOWS\MpgMux.ax
VERSION: 5.0.0813

I havn't got as far as setting up the MVP, ATM Im still trying to get the files to play in GBPVR on the main PC.

The GBPVR-Native log shows this:

:38:28.734 INFO DirectShowPlayerBase::playVideoFile(C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\Recorded TV\Harry Potter - Behind the Magic_ITV1_19_11_2005_17_58_02.dvr-ms)

19:38:28.734 VERBOSE getSetting(PreferredAudioRenderer)
19:38:32.140 VERBOSE getSetting(ListGraphFilters)
19:38:32.140 VERBOSE Graph contains the following filters:
19:38:32.140 VERBOSE - Video Renderer
19:38:32.140 VERBOSE getSetting(SaveGraphFiles)
19:38:32.343 INFO DirectShowPlayerBase::playFile() done

Actually, dont MCE recordings add DRM to the DVR-MS file? If so, you might have no chance of playing them in GB-PVR.

BTW, the cyberlink mux is only needed when you play the file on the MVP.

Not sure about the DRM, I dont think so as the files can be moved to other pc's and still play without requesting licences. The other thread I found the guy was certain he had managed to get MCE DVR-MS files to play in GBPVR, but maybe that was only on the MVP. I guess I'll have to get that set up and see if it works.

Just to let you know that I can playback dvr-ms files recorded with MCE on different PC which is running GBPVR (This is the PC which also has the MVP connected to of course)

Can you playback the DVR-MS files ok in windows media player?
