I tried the conversion and ran into a few problems.
The mp4 video had the screen cut off, only the left half or even top 1/4 of the screen was converted and there was no audio

my command:
"C:\Program Files\devnz\gbpvr\Third Party\FFmpeg\ffmpeg.exe" -i surv.dvr-ms -f mp4 -vcodec mpeg4 -s 640x360 -r 15 surv.mp4

I did the mux checker and got this:
NO MULTIPLEXER FILTERS WHERE FOUND ON YOUR MACHINE.

but the GBPVR is recording, so not sure what's going on Smile

Can you steer me in the right direction?

Can you post your logfiles? If you have XP SP2 then you should have the dvr-ms muxer available. Is this a HiDef source?

which log file?
I run that command from the command prompt, should i run again and pipe the output to a text file?

yes, the dvr-ms file was recorded w/ gbpvr using OTA HD source.

Does ffmpeg directly handle dvr-ms files?

Did you manually run this command from the command line? GB-PVR's auto conversion stuff should never try to directly pass a dvr-ms as an argument to ffmpeg. It first converts it to .mpg using GBPVRConvert (which requires the cyberlink mux to be installed).

thanks, looks like convert to mpg to mp4 works.

Which format is "best' mpg or dvr-ms ?
I installed the cyberlink mux and now can record to mpg or dvr-ms, just wondering which format should i record to ?
does one create bigger size? better quality than the other?

Either mux will grab the HD stream fro an OTA signal. Currently the dvr-ms seems to do a better job as the Cyberlink muxer tends to stutter, at least for me. Assuming both created watchable files, Cyberlink would be preferred because a mpg file is more usable for post processing (comskip, transcoding, etc.)

Look at the postprocessing tab on the config app. You can convert to mpg there.

My apologies - I don't meant to hijack this thread but it seems like the perfect place to ask this question...

I have just discovered GBPVR and must say I am very impressed with the product so far. I have seen mentioned in the forums (in various places) about the "PostProcessing tab" in the config app. Problem is, I don't have this tab in the config app at all. I am running version 1.3.7 which I found via the forums (the main website still has the current version as 1.3.11, interestingly).

Has there been a later version released; or do I need specific settings enabled to allow the PostProcessing tab in the config app? Obviously, this also means that my .ts files in my video library, when selected, do not present an option to convert to another format. This is something that I would like to do - i.e. convert files that are already recorded (and subsequently in my video library) to, say, DivX.

Apologies also if this ends up being a really stupid question - but I am just starting out with all of this so it is a bit of a learning curve :-)

Cheers,
Scott.
