I just tested my system and GBPVR works fine when recording from Standby, but won't wake the computer from Hibernate. I set the computer to hibernate at 2:30am and it did not wake at 3:00am to update the EPG. (The 'wake machine' box was checked) I then tried to record a show at 11:00am from hibernate and it did not work either. Is there a BIOS / Windows / GBPVR setting that I need to change for this to work? In my AMI BIOS all of the power settings are disabled. In Windows, I have it set to turn off the monitor after 20 minutes, put the computer in standby after 45 minutes, turn off the hard drive after 1 hour, and hibernate after 2 hours. Hope you all can help!

Is it a ACPI PC? Is 'ACPI OS' set to yes in the BIOS? What type of computer does windows report it as in device manager? Expand the Computer icon at the top.

I opened the Device Manager and when I expanded 'Computer' it said 'Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI) PC.' Under Power Management in the BIOS, it's set to APM/ACPI. The other choices are APM, ACPI or Disabled. There are also the options for Ring On PowerOn, Resume On PME#, RTC Alarm PowerOn, and Keyboard PowerOn. PNP Aware O/S is set to No. I don't know if this changes much; I was told in a forum that I should try changing that setting to get my WinTV-PVR-150 to work (it now does, but because I reinstalled Windows). Thanks for your help!

Put RTC Alarm Power On to enabled. That may work. I would also set the BIOS power management to ACPI.

When trying to debug a standby problem I had myself (I ended up having to replace my motherboard, because the promised support for 'suspend to ram' never worked), I came accross sleeper. This is a great little tool that allows you to quickly test the supported 'low power' modes of your PC without having to wait for scheduled recordings and such...

My motherboard does not support 'suspend to ram' either. At least that's what sleeper indicated. Does this mean that I won't be able to wake from hibernate?

Resume On PME#,

Have you got this set to enabled? as I think it allows the OS to set power on events.

I enabled Resume On PME# and had the same problem. I use the program sleeper, and tell it to hibernate for 60 sec. It hibernates perpetually.

No, 'suspend to RAM' (STR) and hibernate are two different things. When using STR, your current RAM state is preserved, and the CPU and other components go into a low power state.

Hibernate goes one step further by writing your RAM state to hard disk and doing a 'soft off' of your system. Waking up from hibernation takes a little longer than waking up from STR. For one, because waking up from hibernation requires the RAM state to be restored by loading it from hard disk.

The help file that comes with sleeper explains the different sleep states in more detail.
