Hello everyone,

I have just discovered GBPVR and think its great - by far the best program for anyone with an XCard like me. I also have a dbox2 which makes the dboxrecorder plugin look very interesting as well.

Not having a remote control was a bit of a pain so I have splashed out on a Redrat, but dont seem to be able to get it to work! I have added the drivers etc, and GBPVR can learn remote commands, however the remote will not contrl GBPVR and if I go back in to the remote menu in the config program all the remote commands seem to have been "forgotten".

This is probably something basic, can anyone help?

Any redrat users out there that can help with this?

I have some rather weird directories under C:\Program Files\devnz\gbpvr\IR Definitions\RedRat:

dfgdfgdfg
efwfwef
wedwedwed

Nothing seems to be being updated in this directory when I learn controls... however if I delete these directories they will be recreated when I next start GBPVR.

Im on build 0.95.16

I've been trying to find my RedRat3 this morning to check this functionality is still working, but I've been unable to locate it so far. Its here somewhere...

You have redrat3 right? http://www.redrat.co.uk/RedRat3

It doesnt work with other red rat devices.

Yes, I have a redrat3..

GBPVR seems to be able to communicate with the redrat OK - you have to press each key twice during the learning process - however it doesnt seem to store the learned data or use the remote for actual program control.

I'm also having problems with a RedRat3, I've just updated from a RedRat2 which is serial. The RR3 works fine _until_ the PC goes to sleep or is suspended. When it wakes up the RR3 stops working. The only solution is to either reboot the PC or physically unplug and insert the RR3 again. Maybe the RR3 is not being reset?

I have not had time to investigate futher as I'm having bigger problems with XRecord, but I want to see if the RR CLI until works after waking up.

Gone back to RR2 for now.

Sean

*** Update 27-Jan-06 ***

I've found two fixes to my problem. Either one can be used.

One is a registry fix which can be found at http://support.microsoft.com/default.asp...%5D;841858

The other uses the devcon utility in wake.cmd to reset the redrat. Devcon can be found at http://support.microsoft.com:80/kb/q311272/

wake.cmd :
devcon disable =IRRemoteControl
devcon enable =IRRemoteControl
I use a RR3, but I only use it for GBPVR to change the channels on my sat boxes. My machine doesn't sleep, so I can't comment there, and I don't use it to control GBPVR - I use the hauppauge ir receiver. But otherwise RR3 works fine.

My Redrat3 works fine for changing channels on my STB (I don't use it with a remote). I had it working with both the Redrat2 support and via the .exe support using the Redrat Control program. I prefer the latter as you have more control to wake up the STB and ensure it is in a position to change channels.
With the former I did have to create a new profile where it needed to memorise the remote commands for 0-9 and enter. Don't know why yours were not remembered but I suggest you try the .exe route.

Hi,

I am just starting with GBPVR and had an old Redrat2 lying around which I wanted to work with my Sky STB. I couldn't get this to work with GBPVR, or via HIP, for sending so I knocked up a quick EXE changer in VB. This works very well (for me :-) ) so if anyone else needs it then let me know. I don't know if the RR3 uses the same command set as the RR2 but it may work for that too.

There is no learning feature but you can do that in hyperterminal with [S] and then paste the resulting codes into the RR2 config file for each number with a text editor. Anyway, I have a config file for Sky which I can supply with it.

Did anyone manage to get redrat3 working?

I tried mine last night on 99.12 and GBPVR would communicate with the redrat correctly and would recieve and learn button presses but would not remember them.

It seemed not to be storing the commnds.
