I'v done a new hard drive format and installed windows xp home and a new install of the newest gbpvr and the newest drivers for usb-uirt and gbpvr still exits with every channel change, I set gbpvr config to use the usb-uirt to change the channel with dish network receiver.dat, using the hauppauge remote that came with the pvr-350, i'v tried it both with and without the pvr-350 remote ir software and it still does it, could it be somekinda display driver or something, I'd like to keep using gbpvr but this is just driving me crazy

I'll have to check and see if I can figure out what kinda video card this is, I'm going to switch to a better card soon with S-video output, this one only has the regular vga output, as of now i'm using a micro xga converter box, as for XP Home, could you tell me the problem with XP Home? My friend says about the same thing about it, but with no real answer, I also have XP Pro, do you think I should use that instead??

thanks

XP Home:

Cannot join a domain
Does not have file encryption built in
Has simple file sharing

It should be fine for a PVR. There is little difference to be concerned about.
XP Pro and Home share the same core, with Pro having features for corporate use.
Remote desktop control is the only feature you may want. VNC can provide this though.

MS answers your question here.

I see no reason to turn up a nose at XP Home or Windows 2000, they are both full featured and very stable.

I run my (dedicated) PVR off Win2k Pro - the full specs are in my signature. Is this (kinda) what you're looking for to start your GB-PVR advenure Smile ?
