Hey y'all...
So I replaced my switch by a Cisco 2916XL, and since I can now monitor the ports, I started poking around, and noticed that on the port connected to the MediaMVP

Code:
FastEthernet0/2 is up, line protocol is up
Hardware is Fast Ethernet, address is 0090.b19f.2dc2 (bia 0090.b19f.2dc2)
  Description: --- to MediaMVP
MTU 1500 bytes, BW 10000 Kbit, DLY 1000 usec, rely 222/255, load 112/255
Encapsulation ARPA, loopback not set, keepalive not set
  Full-duplex, 10Mb/s, 100BaseTX/FX
ARP type: ARPA, ARP Timeout 04:00:00
Last input never, output 00:00:00, output hang never
>>>>  Last clearing of "show interface" counters 00:01:27
  Queueing strategy: fifo
Output queue 0/40, 0 drops; input queue 0/75, 0 drops
  5 minute input rate 114000 bits/sec, 185 packets/sec
  5 minute output rate 4398000 bits/sec, 360 packets/sec
10113 packets input, 956440 bytes, 0 no buffer
     Received 3 broadcasts, 0 runts, 0 giants, 0 throttles
>>>>    5937 input errors, 44 CRC, 693 frame, 0 overrun, 0 ignored, 0 abort
     0 watchdog, 0 multicast
0 input packets with dribble condition detected
     18104 packets output, 25563062 bytes, 0 underruns
0 output errors, 0 collisions, 0 interface resets
     0 babbles, 0 late collision, 0 deferred
0 lost carrier, 0 no carrier
0 output buffer failures, 0 output buffers swapped out
So in 1mn 30 seconds, the MVP sent more than half of its frames to the switch malformed or in error? I was wondering if that was a known bug, or if one of you had noticed that already on their switch.

I tried forcing every combination of speed (100 or 10 Mbps) and duplex, and I still can't get rid of all those errors...

Any ideas?

EDIT: forgot there's a MVP forum. If Sub wants to move this to the MVP forum, please do so.

Looking at this..

5937 input errors, 44 CRC, 693 frame, 0 overrun, 0 ignored, 0 abort
0 watchdog, 0 multicast

CRC Errors are a duplexing issue try and auto this. However the cisco's are excellent at 10/100 on good quality ethernet networking equipment but crap on poor ones..

I would also check that the cable is good and working correctly even if you have one that works on a different appliance with no errors. This could also be a little bit of a bug in countering on the IOS. I had the same issues with some 2924XL switches and 3548XL switches using the same strain of ios.

Are you seeing anything untoward, loss etc.

I would also suggest doing the following

conf t
int fa0/2
load 30
end

this will set the interval to 30 seconds instead of 5 minutes for the BW calculator. It could be when its getting a lot of packets its not working correctly.

It could also be an MTU issue. I would again check the what mtu is set to. I think you can change this to allow a larger MTU.

conf t
int fa0/2
mtu 1508
end

This could solve the issue as on the version of ios you are running it doesn't show if it sees jumbo frames.

Hope it helps.

Also Try

conf t
int fa0/2
speed 100
dup full
end
