hey peeps! having a bit of a strange problem with my pvr150 card since i did a full reinstall of my system a couple weeks back. everything works fine except i don't get sound when going into live tv. recordings work fine, with sound! but watching live tv = silent... i'm baffled and out of ideas as to what silly thing i've done to cause this.

i've looked at the hauppauge website and i found something saying i need to connect a cable from the pvr card to my soundcard. i can't remember having had that before, and i can't remember removing it... can anyone with the same kinda card confirm whether i need a cable or not?

if anyone has any good ideas what might be wrong i'd be very happy to hear about it!

thanx, k

Try other drivers. Either the ones it came w/, or new ones from their site. The ones on their site have a beta patch for no sound, too. Always do a full uninstall, first.

thanx for responding Smile i have tried different drivers, with different quality on video, but all with the same problem of no sound... i guess i should try a complete removal of the drivers like you suggest though.

Try the new set on the Haup site, and follow the instructions for a complete uninstall using their app. If you still don't have audio, follow the intrustions to use the beta drivers further down the page.

The PVR150 has an

External Source Audio feed
Audio Input (Line-In) for stereo sound input from an external source. i.e Satellite Reciever or cable box. If this is what you have then check the cable from your external source audio out to the 150 audio in.

RF Input
However I believe that the PVR150 RF input i.e off the air TV antenna signal or cable feed sound is carried within (modulated) with the image signal. Some people have been having issues with some channels missing audio due to a PVR150 driver. Try a different driver to resolve this issue.

No matter what - You will also need a cable from your PC sound card output to your TV/hi-fi/amp etc. audio in to hear the sound that goes along with recorded/live TV from the pvr150 card.

Hope this helps.

I'm actually having the identical problem as you. I did a clean reinstall of my drivers and ever since then I can not hear the audio through GB-PVR on my PC when selecting LiveTV. I also have a MediaMVP. When I use it with GB-PVR to try Live TV I get the Audio. Go figure. Please let me know if you stumble upon the cure.

I just figured it out. In the Playback tab on GB-PVR configuration my "Software MPEG-2 Playback" was set to system default. When I forced it to point at my soundcard for output the problem was corrected. I'm not sure if this might be indicative of a larger problem on my system, though.

thanx for the reponse guys, but no luck here yet...

i've tried changing both Software MPEG-2 Playback and deinterlacing on the misc tab, both with no luck. deinterlacing is now set to ffdshow and MPEG-2 Playback is set to system default.

it's really a strange bug whatever is causing it, seeing that recordings do get normal sound...

If your deinterlacing is set to 'encoder pass-through' then it should use the same components as when you play an MPEG-2 recording.
