GBPVR doesn't see my PVR 350 card for Hardware decoding. GBPVR only recognizes the card the way WinXP Pro does, as "Hauppauge WinTV PVR PCI II". I can select the 350 for hardware decoding in the configuration program, but when I start GBPVR it says that it can't find a PVR 350. How do I fix this?

A little more info:

Card WinXP Pro says I have:
Hauppage WinTV PVR PCI II (Encode/Decode)

Error Message I Get:
No available PVR 350 was detected in the system.

Because of you forum name I think I'm ok providing the following suggestion. Start GraphEdit and choose to "Insert filter". Expand the "WMD stream decompression devices" tree, and check the name of the decoder filter. It should be called "Hauppauge WinTV PVR PCI II Decoder". Insert this filter. This is effectively emulating the steps that GB-PVR does to determine if a PVR350 is present. Does this filter insert ok for you?

You could also email me your GBPVR.exe-native.log which may contain more clues.

I will try your suggestion and e-mail you the log (in a little while).

Thanks

Sub,

Graph edit's insert filter will not expand "WMD stream decompression devices". Does that mean the drivers are still not installed correctly after the 5th time I've reinstalled them?

I am using the PVR350 to watch TV with software decoding.

Should I use drivers that are supplied by SHS instead of Hauppauge?

Yes, it looks like your system does not recognise a PVR350 in your system, or it thinks it is a PVR250. I've not had this problem myself, so I'm not really sure what steps you should go through to resolve. Next stops if it were me, would probably be the SHS forums or even emailing Hauppauge support.

You should also find that the PVR350 tv out does not work in WinTV 2000.

I was using drivers from SHS's website.

Let me know how you get on.

Sub,

The SHS drivers do the same thing as the Hauppauge drivers. I must have a resource conflict (I hope) or a messed up card.

I will try to manually change the resources.

I have an XCard on order and hope to get it this week. Maybe all my issues will go away with this card (only to be replaced by new ones [Image: rock.gif] ).

Thanks for the help.

I had this problem when I installed the PVR-350 drivers only (Sage 2.0 will at this point recognise the card).

Installing the "driver update" from the Hauppauge installation CD (plus the WinTV2000 viewer which sometimes seems necessary to "initialise" the card so that it shows anything) seemed to solve the problem.

However distressingly my PVR-350 seems (also) to have died. The TV output half works but it won't capture anything but a black screen. Before it went it was relaying static to my TV (like a set that doesn't mute output shows when its not tuned to any channel).

Hope this works for you.
