Something Fishy,

I can't get WINTV2000 to work at all. It crashes my system (BSOD) with any drivers (new or old).

I think it's a resource problem. Still haven't been able to look at it yet.

Hauppauge software is indeed a POS. Did installing the "driver update" enable GBPVR to see your 350?

I have taken the same route as you. Yesterday evening I built a new PC using a PVR 250 and an XCard (plus the RME sound card that feeds audio to my hi-fi system). I've not got around to installing any software on it yet as my Netgear 11g card created a BSOD event that even safe mode couldn't avoid (I installed WinXP three times last night).

I resume the fight this evening having imaged the drive straight after installing the XCard. I'm hoping that its drivers are less temperamental than the PVR drivers, on my system the 350 wouldn't show anything at all (either from Sage 2 or GBPVR) unless it had first been prodded into life by WinTV2000.

Cheers

Mine is definately a resource problem. I have to try some things in BIOS, but it's not looking good. BTW, my system sees the hardware, it just doesn't work 100%.

Try disabling all the ports you don't use like serial, parallel, etc. Then move your card to another PCI slot. Don't use PCI slot#1. Make sure to uninstall your drivers and use the hwclear utility from Happague to clear any registry settings and try it again. If it doesn't work keep trying different PCI slots.

Already did all that. This computer only has 2 PCI slots. Everything else is built in. No BIOS options to assign IRQ to certain slots, no apparent way to set the IRQ's manually. I'm down to learning about INT and pins.

If you visit the device manager in the control panel (in the Computer Management program), you can select to View->Resources by Connection. This is a pretty easy way to spot reused IRQs etc.

Sorry my loose terminology.

Before I installed the "driver update" that runs first when you run the Hauppauge set up program my PVR-350 was visible in the device manager (with no reported errors) and usuable in Sage 2.0 but porduced the same error message you report in GB-PVR. Installing the driver update sorted this out even if no subsequent application software was loaded off the Hauppauge CD.

might help out with IRQ assignments under XP.

Cheers
