Cannot Use mpeg files with DVD authoring softwares.

I am very happy with the way I am able to record and time-shift tv. But when I try to burn the mpeg files on to a dvd the dvd authoring program fails.

It has failed with TDA, Architect and Ulead Video Studio.

I capture with the PVR350 card.

Any idea why this happens?

Try using a different dvd authoring program such as dvdauthorgui. It's free.

Split the file with TMPGEnc (File/MPEG Tools/de-multiplex). Load it into dvdauthorgui to create dvd (ifo/vob)files. Make an ISO and play it with VLC player. If it works then go ahead and burn it to a dvdr disc. If the problem still exists, then I have no answer.

About 1 in 10 of my recordings fail. I think there is a problem with timestamps.

if you demux and then remux the file this should fix the problem.
