Hi,

I'm fairly new to this. I've got an Hauppauge WinTV PVR-350, and so far I have been dissapointed with virtually all of the other software and the fact that it will not make use of its output capabilities. I've read in the fourms here that there has been limited success using this card with gbpvr, one guy was saying everything but the Live TV was working. Anyway, I'm sure that the developer will continue to work at getting this to work the PVR-350.

In the mean time, does anyone have any suggestions on how I should configure gbpvr to work with my card? Is there a way that I can make use of the hardware encoding/decoding, but still output through the video out of my ATI video card?

Thanks very much!
Brian

Unfortunately you're wrong on that front. I've long since given up supporting the PVR350's tv out, or developing new features for it. The tv out on this device is just too limited, and has problems with the drivers that I just cant work around.

The PVR350's hardware MPEG decoder is hardwired to the tv out. There is no way to use it unless you're using the tv out.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

*sigh*

I wonder what the return policy is for my 350? I'll have to look into that. Smile

Thanks for the response Sub, it's nice to have some honesty from someone. All of the other software says that that card is supported, but when you get into it, you realize that really they mean the card is supported, but the TV out is not.

If I can return my 350, what do you recommend that I pick up instead?

The capture side of this device should work fine. You'll only encounter these problems when you try to use the tv out.

Yes, but how do I configure it to just output to my video card? Right now when I turn on Live TV from the GUI, the screen goes black and I get a message about how it is outputting to the device, and to hit the Home button to return to the menu. Will this change if I simply turn off the hardware decoding?

Just set the 'hardware decoding' option to 'none - use software decoding'

Will do....thanks Sub, you have been very helpful.

You've done good work with this software, after taking a look around at several others before finding yours, its the most versitile and my favourite one by far. Not to mention, I've gotta support my fellow Torontonian. Smile

The problem with the 350 is you may loads extra for the hw decoder and can't use it - join the club!

If you have the chance (and can be bothered), swap it for a PVR-150 or 500 or a dvb tuner and save some ££
