I have to chip in with the 2 cents worth of: start sharing some of the development tasks with other people, and you will find you have more time to do the stuff you want. Personally I would be very willing to donate time to help (going as far as to say that signing an NDA would not be improbable). This is really because I see GB-PVR as a very good product that (no offence meant, but) needs more than just sub working on it. Sub has created a brilliant product, but I think we (as a PVR communitity) can make it even better.

nah i believe it should stay up to sub to do all the hardwork, he has proven he is very capable of doing it, and you dont wont idiots like me screwing it up. leave it up to sub, really the only thing we cant do is mess with recording and playback, the rest is pretty flexible.

As much as people feel inconvenienced by it, I will continue to add the features I want to GB-PVR, and I'll do it at the pace I want. Sorry. In fact, I've decided I've been putting far too much time into GB-PVR over the last 18 months, so the project is going on to the backburner for a bit while I take time to enjoy life a bit more...

WHAT???

You mean you're going to take some time off? Have a holiday? Spend some time with your friends and family? Do things that YOU wnat to do?...

Sounds like a bloody good idea to me. I might have to try that myself.  [Image: smile.gif]

While I'm not really intending to take any time off at the moment, I do hope to burn a bit less of the midnight oil...

wanted to revisit this idea....PIP, that is.

does the IVideoPlugin interface provide a way of achieving this now? sub, is that even possible?

just curious...if you say it is, i could seriously get behind writing a plugin to do it.

probably doesn't get render() called frequently enough...once a sec wouldnt quite do the trick...

pov.

No, it does provide a way for you to do this. Its just not currently possible.

Quote:do you by chance want to display live video on the menu, in the bottom left corner, or perhaps behind the menu instead of the background image?
I saw this exact feature implemented into the next version of MCE (mce-vista) at CES. It looked absolutely awesome. while browsing around the menu's the video was playing in the background with a blue haze over it, so the menu's were completely legible. The blue haze was a gradient that went from blue to transparent, and back. You could also have the live tv picture minimized into the corner of the screen while you browse. When going from live tv mode to the menu, the video would 'animate' into the corner...was real slick. Though mce functionality is not (and probably never will be) what GBPVR's is....the 'look' of it is really nice.

Mediaportal had this over a year ago when I was playing with it. It looked cool... when it worked. Eyecandy, IMHO.

I'd rather have my MVPs, web interface and streaming, and gbpvr.
Celeron D 2.53GHz, 1024MB
120GB, 160GB int, 80GB, 250GB ext, 40GB lan HDDs
PVR-150 retail, 1 wired MVP, 1 wireless MVP, OFA URC-8910 Remote
Look for me on XBox Live!

Yea, it's definately just eyecandy...but I think it still adds to the total experience (in the same way that having a cool skin does). Regarding streaming...SageTV was displaying their streaming feature at CES. If you logged into the web interface of the box and clicked on a recording it would transcode it down to mpeg4 enough to stream...with different settings for different connection speeds. Not sure if GB has this capability yet...havn't had enough interest in it to investigate.
