Firstly GBPVR is a wonderful piece of software and works very well for me.

One curious hiccup I get is the occasional 0 byte recording. This seems to occur olny after the PC has been left on for several days continiously. I tend to blame windows or PC clutter or tuner drivers.

So provided I restart daily there is no problem. But I forget.. or go away... or am busy.. or the PC is busy... and so occasionally... damn! (Always something the wife really wants Rolleyes )

'0 byte' threads come up pretty regularly so I wondered -
Does anyone else see this trend?
Core2-E2180, 1G RAM, 1Gb-5450 Silent, 2Tb +300g HDDs.
Three tuners: Twinhan DVB-T x 1, Hauppauge Nova 500T (dual)

DTB Digital SD + HD content (PAL-MPEG2-AC3).
Custom case made very quiet. Zalman CPU cooler.
Sits in rack with other HiFi.

ParaLED to show tuner activity.

I too regularly get 0-byte recordings, but only with my Twinhan DVB-S card - I usually disable it when I get too annoyed, and every revision or so of GB-PVR I update all appropriate drivers and start again.

I'm pretty sure that mine only happens when two programs start simultaneously (eg both my hauppage150 and the Twinhan start recording programs on different channels starting at the same time). If so, invariably the Twinhan recording seems to be fine as far as all the logs go, and in fact it shows the status to be recording on the tray icon, but in reality nothing at all is recorded.

If however I try and check it by first starting the hauppauge and then start recording with the Twinhan it works fine. I am using the same card and mux that sub does, so the setup should work fine.

I have just thought of altering the pre-padding on programs that I know will be recorded by the Twinhan - maybe that will work. Otherwise, I will simply disable it again, as it is better to choose not to record something and work around it, than have the program choose for itselfSmile

Can you zip and attach your logs that show one of these?

No problem, although as I said, there really isn't anything in the logs - just a simple started recording, ended recording. I have attached two logs - one for a Scrubs/My Name is Earl conflict on the 24th at 8pm and one for a test I did yesterday (the 26th) between Basil Brush and Crunch at 2.30pm.

cheers,

Everything looks pretty normal in those two logs. Do you have the -native.logs that go with them? Its probably worth having a look at them also.

These devices arent sharing an IRQ are they?

Its worth exploring your idea about the padding to see if it makes any difference if the recordings start at slightly different times.

Yes you can buy them in NZ - it looks like mine is a Twinhan SAT1022A DVB-S card, and I think it was just over $100. If you have an unused sky dish, you can connect it up directly to that and view the FTA/unencoded channels (ie TV1,2,prime and C4 off OptusB1 - TV3 is encoded - as well as a couple of oddball ones - DWTV, NASA TV etc).

Although I currently can't seem to get it working consistently with GB-PVR, I know sub has, so it can obviously be done Smile

Yep -prime and C4 are on satellite, and the BDA drivers are available from twinhan's site in the download area - I think the latest version is 1.2.3.1c. As for having the same conflicts, I suspect it is because there is very little good stuff on the box at the moment, but what there is seems to be opposite each otherSmile

cheers,
