Videos wont play on MVP

Long time reader, first time poster...
So, my problem is that everytime i try to play a video in GB-PVR via MVP I get a black screen and am returned to the menu i came from. Sometimes the server crashes, sometimes not. I've tired all sorts of things, and videos seem to play fairly well with Happauge software, but GB-PVR interface is just better. Any ideas of what to look for/think about?

What type of file was it?

all types of files - mpg, wmv, avi(divx, xvid) - i've tried all sorts of things

I can understand you'd have problems playing wmv or avi files, since the MVP cant natively play these. It is strange that you're having problems playing mpg files. There was one other guy recently that had reported a problem like this, but I dont he ever got to the bottom of it.

zip and attach your gbpvr.exe.log and I'll see if I can see anything obvious.

I am seeing this exact same problem. The videos play fine in the hauppauge server via the mvp, but do the same thing as he's describing when using gbpvr.

I had the same problem it was all working fine and then i had some sort of update downloaded onto my machine and it would still record fine but not play back anything. In the end i found some installation instructions for getting it working and on checking for mpgmux.ax i found the file was missing from the c:\windows\system32\ directory after finding it on the net and registering it with the registery it all sprang back into life. Not really sure what i had installed or updated that broke it.

I'll check out this file on my system tonight and will report the results. BTW, one of the simultaneous changes I made that could have affected a file such as this is the installation of Easy Media Creator 8. For others that reported this problem, did you also install third-party dvd software?

Not to state the obvious, but are you sure that the Hauppauge software isn't running when you run GBPVR?

When I started, I only disabled one of the Hauppauge services, and this meant that the user-interface was coming from GBPVR, but the signalling went to the Hauppauge software...
