Newb ?: Can't Play or Shuffle Dir

I've got my mvp talking to the server and playing music, but when I try to use shuffle the button does nothing unless I have opened a file full of mp3s -- say for example mymusic->bruce-->borninusa. Then it will shuffle all the tracks in there.

But I cannot get it to shuffle or play all from top level directory mymusic.

This occurs both with a directory on the server and with a directory on a shared xp workgroup. The former is mp3 only tracks, while the latter are wma tracks (which I assume are unsupported by the MCP since they cause it to crash).

Any thoughts? Will trying a different music playing plugin help?

This requires a plugin. There are quite a few music plugins on the wiki. Try them out and see which one you like (they've all got a slightly different approach).

I'll try that. Didn't want to attempt the plug-in until I knew I wouldn't be compounding an error.

The built in music library only works on the currently selected directory. It doesnt recurse into lower directories.
